I think Utah is going to work to get Okur going, they are going to bring him inside on Hayes either in the paint or in the mid range, and try and get him shots a little closer
they better, or this series is going to be over quick, and if okur doesn't get his head out of his butt, which i am hoping for the rest of this series, jazz don't have a chance
hayes and yao will play a 2 on 2 zone like match up on Okur and Boozer. Which ever one is near the basket, Yao will stay close to home, Hayes will frustrate Okur whenever out on the perimeter. When both in the paint, Yao will stay home with which ever one is the threat, and battier/help will come down and double with hayes....
What scares me a little is how the Jazz obviously made adjustments for Game 2 and I didn't see how the Rockets made any adjustments at all.
what adjustments did you see? because it didn't really work, boozer played his best game, and they still lost
They should try to get Kirilenko to first score.. then worry about the rest. What good is a player that plays 18 whole minutes, yet doesn't score a point? That's like going 4 on 5
The media is ridiculous. Trying to say Okur would be a huge threat with the 3's. What is he good for? 2-3 per game? On a good night. Ill take Yao's 30 anytime. Hayes and Howard have Okur in check.
two things about today's game that shows promise for our team. We shot significantly worse than the other team and still managed a win. We only have 4 three pointers and still managed a win. We let boozer go 40+ and still managed a win. This shows that multiple factors have to add up simultaneously for the Jazz in order for them to win. This means at least two of their forwards/center lighting it up, and williams playing supurb. However, with that being said, what made us win this game is our free throw attempts and our offensive rebounds/second chance. We may not be able to replicate it. but as long as we shoot on par with these jazz, we can definitely win one of the next two games. AT LEAST.
The only adjustment they need to make is to take Kirilenko out of the starting lineup. He is a complete non-factor for them. But the problem with that is, they would be forced to use Harpring which would leave them with zero bench.
Utah will start Harpring or Giricek in place of the struggling AK next game hoping to get more production earlier in the game. As good as it is for the Rox to take both games, I think Utah should be very concerned as the Rox bench so far has been a virtual non-factor and the Rox 3 pt shooting has been way below average. If TMAC and Yao continue their play and 1 of the 2 factors above changes for the better, I really like the Rox chances in Utah.
One factor they can definitely aim to fix is DWill's careless run-arounds . That one was like a freeway accident! He's lucky that wasn't Mutombo's elbow he ran into.
They'll have nothing to adjust back home. They shot 45% against the Rockets' 36%. What else can they do? Sloan played all his hands and still lose. They just need to pray the Mormon god that the referees will give them some homecourt treatment and call less fouls on Yao and Tmac.
If I were the Jazz I would be pretty worried about now. They had Boozer go off, shot 9% better from the floor and still lost by 8. The Rockets have been poor from the three in the first 2 games. If the three ball starts to fall and we get the same consistency from Yao and T-Mac it could get real ugly for the Jazz. How about that for a little optimism. Knocking on wood now.
this time in game 3 Okur come out strong and scores 22 pts with 12 rebounds and Boozer goes back to sleep. AK47 scores game high 0pts again!!
I'm so glad JVG forced Yao into the post and never let him shoot 3's. Okur is an example of what happens when you let a 7 footer marry the 3pt line. Rasheed Wallace is the only player currently that can hit the 3 and play the post and doesnt unduly fall in love with the 3 pointer.
i'm just waiting for luther to drop some 3 bombs sooner or later. jesus man he's like the 3rd best 3pt shooter in the league because of wide open looks. Make them!
