Damn. I've been wanting Korver on the Rockets for a long time. We could have made a better offer than that.
On second thought, I didn't realize Korver had such a bad contract. Fetching an expiring and a first for that contract on a rebuilding team is actually quite good.
The 76ers have a slight edge on this trade - expiry contract and 1st rounder. I dont see how much diff between krover and Giricek. Giricek is certainly not at his best in Utah. Both are good shooters but dont play defense. Oh well, I really love to see how Sloan will react to flat-feet Krover in defense. I love to have Giricek on the Rockets if he's cheap. Adelman can do magic on Euros.
Actually, Giricek has a better offensive game than Krover. Krover is 1 dimensional 3 pt shooter. But I dont think the 76ers will cut Giricek. Probably 76ers will play Giricek till the season end and let him walk.
so umm.. how long will it take for the Korver jersey sale rankings go up again since he got traded... http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3172562
Great trade for the Sixers because they dump a bad contract and get a draft pick in return. It could also help the Jazz because their weakest spot is SG. I'm not a big fan of Korver but the change in coaches and scenery could bring out the best in him.
Win-win trade. The rebuilding Sixers get a draft pick and dump a contract. The Jazz get their white guy
What I want to know is whether this deal will open the floodgates for struggling teams to start dumping useful guys for picks/youth/salary savings etc. Morey said he was looking to deal with teams that may have given up on their season. I wonder if he talked with the Sixers yet. As for Korver... he seems to be a SF version of Luther Head. Great shooter, not so good defense, and so-so in other aspects of the offense. Pretty useful if you have decent help for him on D and can use some floor spreading.
I like Sloan, but his assholishness will never allow him to win a championship, he just clashes with too many players. DD
I think Korver's the better player, but this seems like a fair trade. Philly gets the draft pick and cap flexibility. Houston Trades: Rafer Alston Steve Francis Kirk Snyder [Draft Pick...maybe?] Philly Trades: Andre Miller Only Rafer has multiple years left, so effectively Philly gets rid of half of Miller's salary this offseason and a draft pick, and Rafer should be more tradeable.
I finally figured out it out Sloan's teams . .and to an extent JVG teams play NOT TO LOSE no mistakes. . no 'risky' plays etc They don't play TO WIN! Rocket River
I have no clue what 76ers' plan is, and probably until the trade deadline passes and/or Dre is swapped no one will, but - I don't know why they wouldn't utilize him for their benefit (ie SnT) [of course, letting him walk and having the caproom to make a (dare I say it - - - ) BIG SPLASH !] would be to their (potential) benefit...
we have ending contracts and picks. we are in need of a shooter. steve/snyder and a pick? c'mon morey!
Is it trading season now? If Philly is starting to make deals, lets try to nab Willie Green or Reggie Evans.
This is a horrible trade for Utah. First of all, Giricek is a better overall player than Korver. Second, Korver's contract is horrible. If anything, it should have been the other way around: Korver + 1st rounder for Giricek's expiring contract. If the price for Kyle freakin Korver was this high I think you can forget acquiring Andre Miller without giving up an arm and a leg.
