The key question in the West is not whether you are good, but who are you better than? With some luck they might fight for the last playoff spot in 2 years. Congratulations, Utah.

Their smartest move was locking up Hayward for the next 4 years. He is an excellent player, and they'll never attract any free agents to Utah so they really need to be smarter than the rest of the league on how they can pair Hayward and Favors next to another good player.

I don't know if they're good or not, but this is why I wrote after the Utah win that I was very happy to get that road win. They are always tougher at home than their talent indicates.

Yeah, definitely one of the best home court advantages in the NBA. Denver gets all the talk about elevation being a factor, Salt Lake City also is very high for an NBA city.

Yeah, I agree 100%. They could be a 4-6 seed in the east. I think it's more realistic, given the course of the season, that they'd finish in the eastern conference around the 6-7 seed.

Man, the west is crazy tough.

I'd love to play a schedule where the majority of my opponents are from the eastern conference...that alone is why I think the Jazz could nab the 4 or 5 seed out east

is the season bout to be over already?

I'd think the kings seem more legit than the jazz at this point of season

Lost to the Pacers. Not legit. ;)

L: Houston, Dallas(2), LA Clippers, Indiana
    W: Phoenix, Cleveland, Detroit

    Young, inconsistent team.

That, and because of travel schedules teams always end up getting there on back to backs at like 3 am in the morning.

Have to also keep in mind that the altitude in Utah gives them a big home court advantage against most teams especially when the visiting team is playing the 2nd night of a back to back like both PHO & CLE did when they lost to the Jazz.

Utah is a very long way from being "legit". However, having watched some of their games I will say that their current offensive sets are quantum leaps better than last year.

I was high on Snyder last year (and would have loved to see him on the Rockets, along with Ettore Messina or David Blatt), and so far he isn't disappointing. It won't necessarily translate into a play off berth, however the first half of the battle is creating systems and frameworks for a roster to build upon.

It will be interesting to see what the offenses of Utah and Cleveland will look like by the all star break.

Have to admit that Hayward really looks like a max player right now, seems Utah was blamed unfairly for this deal. Really good scorer and also great court vision, knows exactly when to pass it and where open teammates are.

    19.2 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 4.8 apg, 1.3 spg on 48.3 fg% and 35.2 3pt% this season.
