Tonights game should be a good one. Im thinking Roy Williams, B.J., and Sloan Thomas are going to have good games. Taking out there frustrations on having to go to another crappy bowl game when there some of the best players in the NCAA.
I'm not going to be too confident about the game. WSU is a pretty good team. Hopefully the Seniors can go out with a win.
John Clayton reported Spurrier will most likely take the year off and there's "no chance" he will be going to Nebraska. Great news.
All of you guys who constantly want Mack gone should be reminded of one name, Fred Akers. Seriously, Mack has been the best coach since old Fred so I'm willing to see him stay a little while longer. And I'm not willing to go through another 15 years of mediocrity because the rich alums think national championships are a birth rite when in reality the team hasn't won one in 33 years. This team is obviously back in the right direction.
I have to agree. Only one team wins National Championships each year. Well, except for this one.... But I digress. I think lots of people forget quickly what this program looked like in Mackovic's last year. Yuck. Now, we have the chance to play for an 11 win season for the third straight year? Damn, that is nice. I know we are not quite in the mix yet as one of the elite national programs, and who knows if Mack Brown is the guy to get us there? However, I definitely want to see how things play out with Vince at the helm for the next 2 or 3 years. He could be the guy. And I'd dump some coordinators repeatedly bashed here before I go the "new coach" route. Just my $.02.
I agree about Vince Young i cannot wait to see this guy for the next couple of years. The offensive line should be awesome next year. Along with a good running back. And hopefully the wideouts learned some stuff from the guys this year.
This should be an interesting game. I expect Wazzou to score a bunch of points, cause we've got Carl Reese on our coaching staff. But they are Wazzou, and are very prone to "Cougin' It", so to speak - so I expect them to screw it up. ~ Texas 45, WSU 35. [qoute] Fred Akers.[/quote] Fred > Mack. You know, maybe it's just me - but sometimes, just sometimes - in that rare burst of insight - Athletic Directors actually make a good choice hiring people and they improve the team. Firing a coach doesn't automatically condemn you to 40 years of wandering the desert. I disagree. Any year in which you are ****stomped, once at home, by two of your arch-rivals can only be seen as a step back, especially considering our talent level.
I'm not happy with the status quo. If we don't win the Big 12 next year, there's a name coach on the market with a big time resume. OSU hadn't won a national title since 1968, LSU hasn't won a national title since 1958, USC hasn't won a national title since 1978...if these old programs can resurrect themselves surely Texas doesn't have to settle for less. What are the obstacles stopping Mack Brown?
Also, pgabriel, I believe this is the longest period UT has gone without winning a conference champion. I know the Big 12 isn't the SWC but we aren't some also ran. And when you look in RRS history you will see 2003 and 2000 at the top of the list as the worst beatings. I guess we can't blame Mack Brown for that since Bob Stoops is the greatest coach in the history of college football.
Mack Brown's only mistake since getting to UT was sticking with Simms. Mack's had a better record than Sabin, so yeah you're right, imagine if LSU was impatient like UT and gotten rid of Saban. LSU is the perfect example of why all this get rid of Mack talk is premature.
Saban has won 2 SEC championships and a Sugar Bowl in his 4 years at LSU. LSU is the perfect example of why Mack should get canned. But if you're satisfied with wins and rankings then Mack is your guy.
What team has won the National Title in the SEC while Saban was there? And excuse me for being satified with wins.
you stole my line! i'm with you, pgabriel. i think mack has very clearly turned this program around...and is due some time to take them to the promised land.
Poor Mack. He does have a tougher road than Saban. Stoops took a 5-6 squad and turned them into champions in 2 years. He puts Texas out of the Big 12 race every October. So as long as Stoops is at OU, we should just be happy with 2nd place. Nothing wrong with wins except we are headed into year 7 under Mack. What do you expect? I expect a conference championship.
