For those who don't know me, I'm the resident Aggie 2% w/ the hookups. So don't take this as trash-talking or whatever. Just to inform, A&M just beat UT in Austin 80 something to 70 something. A couple of questions: since i was at intramural hoops ref training, i was unable to catch all but the last 3 minutes of the game (which I was unaware of it even being played) on TV channel surfing. From my limited knowledge of college basketball, I thought that A&M was a real bad team, and UT was a real good team. So how in the world was A&M winning? Can any other Aggies tell me how good A&M is? How good is UT? (I've noticed there are a lot of knowledgeable UT fans/students on this board) Also interesting is that it's pretty cool when you see people on TV that you know but you didn't know it before. Nick Anderson is a nice guy, and very tall...one of the few non-ghetto, non-idiotic athletes at A&M (and UT). Not to say that ghetto makes you dumb, b/c there are a lot of ghetto, but good and also decent people. Also, I think y'all longhorns have good basketball fans...but y'all get a little to rowdy some times. Like when I first started watching, Butterfras(hilarious name!) gets raked across the face, cut on his nose and read gash on his cornea, and he holds his eye area in pain... then the crowd starts booing incessantly when he was taken out of the game. To me, it looked like an obvious foul, and obviously the guy was bleeding and had to be taken out. Another time, the crowd goes crazy again when Bernard King passes the ball back before he crossed half-court, and it was also obvious....and the crowd goes crazy again. I wish I was some big die hard Aggie, cause i might have a lot of fun trash talking and gloating and whatever...but y'all UT fans seem pretty emotional as is, and probably would not like it if I rubbed it in your faces...and more so cause I don't really care. On a side note, I'm debating myself on whether or not I should continue this ref thing. On one hand, I need the money bad, but on the other, I will be joining a group (referees) of people that I hate almost as much as parking police. Is money worth a ticket half-way to hell?
The Bulls beat the Lakers this season.. anything is possible in basketball! Unfortunately, being a Longhorn, A&M did get lucky and I'm glad I didn't go to the game tonite!!!
The crowd thought Butterfras was faking it, obviously he wasn't. Also, I think they weren't happy with the fact that Rick didn't get to pick the foul shooter. A couple of iffy calls, but atm won fair and square.
Any team that shoot 58% from the field plus 82% from the line will win. UT shot 38% from the field and 58% from the FT line and they still almost won. Aggies hit all their free throws at the end of the game. College basketball is all about free throws and 3pt plays.
I guess Aggie is finally happy about something. Probably, because this may one of the only high points for the whole university in sports for a long time. Go aggies!!! Ya right!
