Mack Brown is hosting the first UT Junior Day tomorrow and it is suppose to be like years past where some top recruits commit early. And the top tier all have Texas near the top of their lists. Commit #1 is already in and he even wasn't invited to Junior Day. Trey Hopkins, OL from Galena Park. Might be the only OL they go after this year. http://texas.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=71676
Man that stinks I went to Galena Park HS..(way back in 88)...but now I can't root for him. Edit: Never mind he went to North Shore (Galena park School district)..I live in Northshore..but I never had any real affinity for them.
i went to north shore class of 06.....even though they are really good i never really cared for the football team...
So it begins...should be interesting to see how many commits we get after tomorrow. Also, suprised that our first commit is an offensive lineman considering the OL class we just brought in. Hook em'
Yawn...A&M got its first 2010 commit on 11/17/08. Dual threat QB Jameil Showers. Picked the Ags over 6 other Big XII teams, including Texas.
According to scout and rivals, A&M and Baylor were the only ones to offer. http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=4049283
Looks like it's up to three commits for Texas so far, including WR John Harris and DT Taylor Bible, if reports are correct. These two junior day events are essentially Texas' biggest days each year in recruiting. We'll have a pretty solid idea about Texas 2010 class after THIS February.
I'm pretty sure he would have had more offers had he not committed around Thanksgiving of his junior season. Did you see the stats on that kid? He may not be the best in the world, but he should be a productive player.
Of course he wasn't going to pick Texas unless he wanted to play running back or receiver because he wasn't going to beat out Gilbert.
I can't say that I know a whole lot about the QB's in the state of Texas for 2010. I know that 2009 had an insane amount of Quarterbacks being recruited nationally from the state. Wasn't there a QB who was interested in A&M, but either backed up or chose another school at the last moment from the 09 class? Or am I thinking of someone else? Is it Cody Green that went to Nebraska that was interested in the Aggies?
I'm not knocking on the kid but I don't think you can say he picked over other schools when they didn't offer him. Also, if he's a really good prospect, other teams wouldn't hesitate to throw out an offer regardless whether he is committed or not.
Sweet, I've already sent their photos to the Austin Police Department to make sure the Austin public is safe from drugs, guns and intoxicated boaters.
Oh yeah? Well, the jerk store called, and they are running out of you! SCORE!!!! Seriously, that was funny. It would be more appropriate if it were several years ago, but hey, maybe it took you this long to try to think of something funny, and this is all you came up with. Damn, that sucks. Oh well, please start a thread or something if you need help with humor, or life in general. We are all willing to help you out around here.
