I was watching this years National Champs to be this Saturday, and noticed something kind of weird. How is it that 2 different players can wear the exact same number in the same game? Major Applewhite wears # 11, and the next thing I realize there is a defender also wearing # 11. How is it possible for both players to wear the same number?

I've seen it done with other schools too. Apparently, in college ball, you can have the same number for different players if one plays offense and the other defense.

    Scouting. :D

Big time schools usually use the same number more than once. A couple years ago, UT had three guys that wore number 2. This year I think Babers and Sloan Thomas use the same number-9. I know Sloan shares it with someone.

Some schools dress more than 100 players so numbers get duplicated. Nebraska I know has a huge walk on program and they usually have a lot of duplicate numbers. I think A&M also has like five or six #12's for each game as part of their twelve man thing.

I think Dak and Sloan share #0. Major and DJ share #11.

On 10.6.01 you might see # 1 Simms throw an interception to # 1 Simms. Yes, there is a ***** on the OU Defense that wears # 1 and his name is Terrance Simms.

You might also see a pass thrown to Roy Williams intercepted by Roy Williams. They are arguably the best offensive and best defensive players in the Big 12.

41-7 and 44-14 are just fine in my book. UNC played OU tough and NMSU almost beat OSU. There aren't many teams better than the Horns at this stage.

Of course, McNeese ST. and Wyoming would give us a hard time though.

I'd like to see a rematch between Texas A&M and Galveston Ball High School.

You do know the Fightin Texas Aggies are .500 vs. Ball HS.

Aren't they 1-0-1 ? So, technically they're undefeated, but have only won 50 % of their games.

I don't know how Galveston Ball is this year, but I think Lufkin can give atm a test.

You're right. The record is 1-0-1, but no college team should ever tie a high school team even if it was a century ago.

Some players that have dupicate #'s:

    Sloan Thomas/Dakarai Pearson: #9
    Major Applewhite/Derrick Johnson: #11
    Montrell Flowers/Everick Rawls: #2

Smokey and gr8-1, the Gomers can't even hold our jock anymore. It's going to get ugly in College Station come November. BTW, never knew that little tidbid about them tied with Ball HS....

    Longhorns' Flowers Out Indefinitely
    Updated 8:20 PM ET September 10, 2001

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Texas wide receiver Montrell Flowers, who already has two touchdown catches this season, suffered a lacerated kidney against North Carolina and will be out indefinitely.
Flowers' progress will be evaluated over the next few days, a statement from the university said Monday.

Flowers left in the third quarter of the fifth-ranked Longhorns' 44-14 victory over the Tar Heels on Saturday after being hit while trying to catch a pass. After being examined in the training room, he was taken to a hospital.

"A CT scan determined that Montrell suffered a lacerated kidney," trainer Tom McVan said Monday. "He has been under evaluation for the past few days, and hopefully will be able to be released from the hospital later tonight."

Flowers, a senior, has five receptions for 60 yards and the two scores in two games this season. He has 61 catches for 846 yards and 10 TDs in 31 games for his career.
