How are the Honors Dorms. I got an offer, but they seem far away from everything and I don't know if they're really worth it. Are the rooms much nicer? THey told me the advantage was that you'd have people from your classes and study groups in there. That didn't sound too convincing.
What about Jester, Roberts, and Brackenridge?
I doubt I'll get into san jacinto, so I'm just trying to find out what things are like.

I lived in Moorehill last year and after one yr of dorm life I have my own apartment at College Park off Riverside next year.

    That said,

Jester is not as horrible as many people make it out to be. But it wouldnt be high on my list.

Brackenridge is nice and another perk-its very close to the football stadium so getting to games isn't bad.

Roberts I don't know much about.

go to www.utexas.edu for more info

I lived in Jester last year...it is true...it's not as bad as people say.

In fact...I loved it a lot...very clean, no real problems...and some cool people live on the floors.

Don't count out not getting San Jac...i know a lot of fish who got San Jac last year...i'm living there next year...but for some strange reason, I'm kinda sad to leave Jester.

As far as honors dorms..i hear the camaraderie is very high...everybody chills with each other...maybe cuz everybody is on same intelligence level (?).

Can anyone tell me how many Rockets games come on TV in Austin? How much does the NBA package cost on cable?

No rockets games, unless your local provider gets em or you have league pass save the games vs SA and TNT/NBC now games.

    Your in Spurs country.

Last season-->I don't remember...maybe like 5-6 including 3 vs. SA. The 4th game vs. SA was blacked out. I think one Lakers vs. Rockets game was on Turner, and Fox SW showed Rockets at Bulls. Also WGN had Bulls at Rockets on too.

    The NBA package was $159.

That's why you go to A&M, they get many more Rockets games. :D :p

No, but my first three years in College Station I got 82 games every year, but my last year I only got games on Fox SouthWest, and they eventually showed some UPN games on the Cox Cable Information Channel...probably because people like me started to complain.

Both Carothers and Andrews are nice. But this was back in 96-98. You get movable furniture and hardwood floors. Andrews cafeteria is better than Jester and Kinsolving is even better. If you're an Engineering or Natural Science major, I think that the Honors dorms are more convenient.

I'm pretty sure Andrews cafeteria was permanantely closed last year for lack of users. The only cafeterias are at San Jac, Jester, and Kinsolving.

If you want the old school dorm feel, I'd stay at the Honors. I stayed 2 years at Jester and it was cool. But like I said you gotta check things out yourself. During orientation, you'll be housed in Jester East so you'll get the feel of what its like to live there.
