Another disciplined Mack Brown athlete in the media:

    Texas' Monroe faces DWI charge

AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas freshman kick returner D.J. Monroe has been charged with drunken driving after a overnight arrest.

Monroe was arrested on Interstate 35 and taken to the Hays County jail, said Lt. Ler oy Opiela of the Hays County Sheriff's office. He was released Sunday morning after posting $3,000 bond.

Opiela said he did not have details of the arrest or who posted Monroe's bond.

A Texas spokesman said the team was aware of the arrest. Texas coach Mack Brown did not immediately issue a statement.

Monroe has two kickoff returns for touchdowns this season for the No. 3 Longhorns (10-0).

That's a really high bond amount for a first DWI.

What the hell does this have to do with Mack? Is he supposed to be holding his players hands at 3 AM?

Monroe is an idiot obviously, and I wouldn't mind if he didn't suit up again this season.

If the players actions are representative of their coach, then I certainly hope you are giving Mack credit for 1st class citizens like Colt, Shipley, and the Acho brothers.

He hates UT Austin. He's the same guy who posts in VY the Great thread and he also hates the Rockets.

    1. What do you call a drug ring in Austin? A huddle.

    2. Four UT Longhorns in a car, who's driving? The police.

    3. The UT Longhorns have adopted a new "Honor System". Yes your
    Honor, No your Honor.

    4. The UT Longhorns knew they had to do something for their defense,
so they hired a new defensive coordinator: F. Lee Bailey.

    5. How do the UT Longhorns spend their first week at fall practice?
    Studying their Miranda Rights.

    6. What do you say to a Longhorn in a suit? Will the defendant
    please rise?

    7. If you see Longhorn football player on a bike, why don't you
swerve to hit him? It might be your bike!

    8. The Longhorns employ scouts. But to look out for cops, not to
    scout high school kids.

    9. I heard a rumor that the Texas Department of Corrections plans to
build a new prison in Austin, Texas in order to allow Longhorns to
    walk to school.

    10. What do you call it, when a Longhorn goes on vacation? Time off
    for good behavior.

    11. Why couldn't the Longhorn get into a huddle on the football
field? It's a parole violation to associate with known felons.

    12. Obviously Coach Mack Brown is not paying his players if they
have to resort to robbing people.

    13. Book 'em, Horns!

Part of Mack's job is shaping these guys into men, and it's clear over the past SEVERAL years that he's not being effective in keeping them from getting involved with the police.

....at least he's not getting DWI's like your baseball coach, though. could be worse.

That seems more like the parents responsibility. Mack's job is to win football games, which he is doing.

Sorry to interrupt the circle jerk, Vinsanity and texxx.

    Please read this: http://www.shaggybevo.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=51357

Go ahead, call Monroe an idiot. Or just admit that you hate all things Texas.
But don't drag Mack into this when the absolute worst thing he has done in his tenure here is tell the world he believed his team deserved a shot in the Rose Bowl.

And texxx... do you blame Florida's arrest problems on Meyer? Do you blame Tennessee's on Kiffin? Oklahoma's on Stoops? Do you blame the Connecticut coach for his players getting into a fight that ended in death?

    wrong.

    Mack's own words:
"When someone is accused of trouble or has trouble. it's devastating to me personally. It's something that I feel responsible for because I brought them here. I also feel like I am an extended family member and that I've let the young people down with education and I've let their family members down."

So because Mack has stated that when a player is arrested he feels "devastated," when a player gets arrested in the middle of the night it is Mack's failure? Right.

If he had never made that quote, then we all know you would be saying Mack doesn't care, he's the spawn of satan, etc. But because he made that quote, now you come one here spewing your venom, trying to turn a quote that 99% of the world would say reflects positively on Brown against him.

But yes, since only 98% of the players who have come through brown do not "devastate" him, he is an absolute disgrace to the game of football.

Give me a break. "PWNS" .

    leave bigtexxx alone.

Rice will never be relevant. never. this is bigtexxx's only way of declaring any semblance of victory.

0-12 is much better than an isolated player making a bad decision.

it's not an "isolated" incident. UT football under Mack has had numerous arrests and violations, more than any other college in the country. For such a great football program, it's not only embarrassing to the school, it's embarrassing to the entire state of Texas. Running background checks before recruiting and NOT ignoring past records is a good place to start. But it seems like all they care about is "success" that they forget what the essence of higher education athletics is all about: competing in a high class manner and setting an example to the youth aspiring to play football for such great programs.

Mack should clear his act up, it's getting ridiculous

LOL at trying to trash Rice to make up for UT-Austin's criminal issues.

Hey, Rice beat Tulane yesterday! No longer in the running for 0-12!
