Assuming the Rockets select Ming, Cato becomes expendable, especially since he probably would not accept a role as a backup again. So, what team will want a slightly used center with a great deal of potential -- or do we keep him and try to assuage his hurt feelings? I know the wisecracks are forthcoming, but this is a question that eventually will need a serious answer.
I have a lot of problems with Cato, but if we trade him, who will play defense for us. From what I heard, Ming can't leep a "potential" second rounder away from the rim.
As long as Shaq is in the league, we need Cato. If Ming reached his highest possible defensive potential, he would still have difficulties with Shaq. If he turns out to be a smart player, he should be able to contest his hook shot and away-from-the-basket shots better than anyone in the league, but because of Shaq's ability to get position and dunk Ming will always have problems.
