I've been watching this line. If it comes down to -7.5 or -7 I may put down some money on USC. Now, don't get me wrong, I want Texas to win this game, but I think USC will win it by a touchdown, possibly more.

Texas sometimes gets off to slow starts (oklahoma state, A&M, etc...) and then comes back at the end and blows the other team out. USC is known for getting fast starts. If Texas comes out of the gates slowly, then I feel that USC will be too far ahead and are too good for Texas to just stroll back into the game. Texas beat a good Ohio State team, but didn't beat them easily, they had trouble..... USC had trouble with Notre Dame but Notre Dame is a damn good team. The Colorado game means absolutely nothing to me at this poing, Colorado didn't want to even play in that game. I look for USC to get an early lead and Texas to come back and make it interesting in the second half.

From a gambling/money standpoint only, I think laying it on USC to cover would be a good bet (not easy money, but close).

Why don't you just buy some points and make the line -6.5 or -7 at the least. Your payday won't be as much as the -8 line, but it is still worthwhile.

My online site is at USC -7.5 right now

I just wager and brought 1pts to make it 6.5

So if USC win by a TD I'll win instead of needing another score to cover.

who knows...I want Texas to win, but I don't think USC will win by more than a touchdown, if that...I think it'll be a last minute win...

Are we talking about the same USC team that was losing at the half to Arizona State, Notre Dame, Oregon and Fresno State? The same USC team that was only up 21-7 in the fourth quarter against Arizona? They somehow have a reputation for getting "fast starts"? History shows the exact opposite... they have a tendency not to put the foot on the gas until they have to.

Texas covers easily. I think, having watched both teams all season, it's likely Texas wins straight up... but with a spread that means Texas covers even if they lose by a touchdown? That's too easy. This will be the biggest play I've made in any game, college or pro, all season. Special thanks goes to the hype machine of ESPN for inflating the spread to where it's currently at.

I find these two statements weird. USC is not known for fast starts any more than Texas. They were behind by double digits to both Oregon and Arizona State at halftime. Texas was down to OSU and A&M.

In the latter, Texas and USC struggled on the road to OSU and ND. You put the Texas statement in a negative light (we had trouble), but for USC, ND is just a damn good team.

This is the same as everyone saying "how is Texas going to stop USC?" with no one talking about Texas is a higher scoring team than USC.

If you give Pete Caroll a month he will find a way to end the war on terror.

After being given one month to prepare... Pete Caroll successfully roundhouse kicked Chuck Norris into oblivion.

Texas plus 8 is a great bet.

I am putting money on Texas on the money line.......heads up.

    Texas has a better defense.

i can't bet on a game where i have such a strong rooting interest. i can bet on the astros to win the pennant ahead of the season...but i can't bet on an individual game where my team is playing. i'm way too biased.

err...have you watched texas and USC play all this season?? USC is known to be slow starters bc they are just way too cocky. texas is known to score right off the bat. sure, you mentioned osu and a&m...but there is no etc. *shaking head* there is no way i will bet against my longhorns.

I don't know that my Horns will win, but I know USC is way overhyped. Their defense is nothing special. Vince Young will show up strong in a big game, and it will be close.

Why would you play Money Line on the underdog? The risk/reward is good at +235, but you are going out on a limb and saying Texas will win outright. Thats quite bold. Its easier to just play the points.

If you think Texas is gonna win just play the +8 odd line. Usually people play the ML only if the game is a 10+ spread with a clear cut favorite.

    Kinda like the A&M game?

19 yards rushing, 162 yards passing with a pick?

Uh, no. USC is substantially better than A&M.

The one truly unforgivable sin in comedy is predictability. If the audience knows the punchline you're going to say before you say it - then there's no reason for you to be there.

Maybe take a few Longhorn threads off, work up some new material before you burn out or become a parody of yourself.

It's not all that bold if you stop listening to the hype of ESPN and actually watch the two teams on the field. It's easier to play the points, and that's what I'm doing... but having watched Texas and USC in almost all games, I can't blame anyone for trying to play the money line. The team that generally has appeared equal or better is getting +235 at a neutral site game? C'mon...
