So will we get to see Ming in action? 2002 USA Men's World Championship Team Games To Be Televised By NBC, ESPN2 And TNT Plans Call For All Nine USA Games To Be Televised Live Nationally COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (July 17, 2002) -- A total of nine possible USA games could be televised live from the 2002 FIBA World Basketball Championship For Men, USA Basketball announced today. Three preliminary first round games and three second round games involving the USA men's team will be televised live by ESPN2 and Turner Network Television (TNT), while TNT will also broadcast the USA's quarterfinal game, NBC will televise a medal round semifinal game and the World Championship gold medal game. . . . The United States opens the FIBA World Championship on Thursday, Aug. 29 against Algeria (8 p.m. - all times listed are Indianapolis local times) in a game televised by TNT. The USA-Germany contest on Friday, Aug. 30 (7 p.m.) will be televised by ESPN2, and TNT will televise the USA's final preliminary round game against China on Saturday, Aug. 31 (8 p.m.). All three of the USA's preliminary round games will be played at the RCA Dome. Following a day off (Sept. 1), second round play will be conducted Sept. 2-4. If the United States finishes in the top three of its preliminary round group and advances to the second round, then the USA game on Monday, Sept. 2 (8 p.m.) will be televised by TNT. ESPN2 will broadcast live the USA's final two second round games on Tuesday, Sept. 3 (8 p.m.) and Wednesday, Sept. 4 (7 p.m.). All three of the USA's second round game are slated to be played in Conseco Fieldhouse. TNT will conclude its broadcast coverage with the USA's quarterfinals match up on Thursday, Sept. 5 ( 8 p.m.). NBC will broadcast live a medal round semifinal game on Saturday, Sept. 7 (3:30 p.m.), and the gold medal game scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 8 (3:00 p.m.). i will be watching because its the only good basketball games we have now. otherwise i wouldnt care to watch. i dont agree with most of their selections for the team. however, i will gladly watch the game against china.
Don't count on Ming dominating. I would be happy just to see him not get completely destroyed. 10-12 points, 8-10 boards, 2 or 3 blocks would be an excellent showing at this point, IMO.
It will be more exciting game if wang zhi zhi plays for china. It will be good game to see Yao Ming plays. I hope he aint in foul trouble again.
