Poor guy. He's tied for last with Spurs owner Peter Holt. This has a good breakdown of what the players are making. Mutombo is doing pretty good for himself.

    Houston Rockets
    Owner: Leslie Alexander

    Hometown: Boca Raton, Fla.
    Net worth: $80 million

Other pro team interests: Owns WNBA's Houston Comets, formerly owned Arena Football League's Houston ThunderBears/Texas Terror; has shown an interest in becoming a minority owner of an NFL team.

How he earned his money: Former Wall Street securities trader

Education: Bachelor's at New York University, law degree at Western State

Is this net worth or what? Our team gotta worth more than 80 mil. I am interested to know which teams are making money. I think Houston has 3rd largest market in NBA, and made profit last year.

$80,000,000? You're right, DeAleck. How's Les gonna feed his family on chump change like that?

No he can't. Les can't feed his family and players. People complain about Yao's upper body strength... now you know why!

i was wondering the same thing as YAllMean - how can he be worth $80 mil when he owns a team worth way more than that? does he have lot of minority owners or something?... same thing goes for alot of the other owners too

Gordon Gund just sold the Cavs for over $300 millions. Even the Jazz right now's worth $200 millions in Utah, and over $300 millions on the national market.

I suppose the Rockets' worth more than $300 millions as well.

This is why I am little bit suspicious about the chart. Charts in Forbes or Fortune will tell you how they calculated. If Les sells Rockets next season, he will own hell lot more than 80 mil. I know some wealth charts would exclude real estate one owns. If that's true, it has nothing to do with Rocket's spendingbility. I am sure Spree makes more than the new CEO of HP, which has 50 billion purchasing power.

Pretty sure the 80 million are his assets outside the team he owns. Same with all other owners.

And people think the Rockets will trade Yao if he doesn't become a superstar...

Maloof brothers only own $100 mil each? What phonies they have been, pretending to be rich. :D

Seriously, Maloof bros only has 100 mil outside Sac King? Now this chart is worthless. It must only count the money you have either in bank, in securities, and in stuff like arts, boats etc. It doesnt count one's investment in business.
