Topic should read: Usa team is an Embaressment and Disgrace Damn, this no deleting sucks! ------------------
Barkley elbowed an Angolan. Anyway.....dude relax! True, we are going to walk to the gold medal, but this is still a competition. Gregor F u c k a got pretty physical with us as did several other Italian players. They get physical with us, we do it back. There is no reason for us to lie down and take it because we are the best. Here is a link to the article about the Italians getting physical with us. Cat posted it in another post. http://www.foxsports.com/olympics/2000/stories/o0918mhoops_us.sml ------------------ There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."
hey just think of it dis way when Italy plays USA in Soccer they beat us and make fun at us too! and also the rest of the world by the way! ------------------ "It wasn't a fight. He punched me one time, that's all. That's not a fight. I don't fight at 30,000 feet. I had an education." L8 vs Stack
I think this WE BULLYING other sh*t is what is embarrassing Should we expect these guys let these players beat up on them . . hurt them maybe even riun their career? HONESTLY These guys want to win the gold. This is competition I think because these guys outmatch everyone else. . . people feel they should play light hearted and just shake off all things they should not complain about calls . NOTHING. . . but when those things end up costing them a game They'll be called losers and soft and sh*t. Can't have it both ways Rocket River ------------------
Hoop T and Rocket River: Apparentley neither of you watched the game . I felt the same way you two did before watching the game last night. Jeez, the whole crowd was booing team USA. I wonder why? ------------------
RocketBooster; You're so right! Team USA is painting themselves as a pack of idiots, thanks mainly to the efforts of one Vince Carter. Most of the other players are pretty well in control. Ray Allen has earned the MOST respect as a player - he just goes out there and plays the game. Carter just runs his mouth all day long and has played like an elderly woman. One play, Carter is "attempting" to go for a rebound. He grabs the miniature italian guy who is trying to box him out and pushes him from the FREE THROW LINE out of court and into the support stand. Oh, did I mention that the rebound had been taken well before Carter finished pushing the little guy onto the ground and then completing a WWF type splash onto him. And then as mentioned before, he stood up, lowered his pants and urinated on the guy. SHOCKING! Anyway, I'll be attending the Semi-final game and if you manage to watch it and hear the "Carter's a wanker" chant and the booing you can know that I'll be involved. ------------------
Enough is enough. I was willing to let the natural emotional Olympian attitude of some Dream players to excuse some instictive actions. But, last night after watching a complete Vince Carter thuggery show aimed at the Italians, I've had enough. Barkley elbowing a Kenyan is one thing, but knocking a 175lb Italian to the ground numerous times, and then, standing over him and pissing on him before you allow him to get up is going beyond the beyonds. It's one thing for Team USA players to wrap their lips around an Italians face for an entire game, but all this elbowing and throwing guys to the gound bull**** is inexcusable. I don't think winning a gold and having a sold out arena booing your Team USA is what Rudy T. had envisioned. ------------------ [This message has been edited by ROCKETBOOSTER (edited September 20, 2000).]
Dr Nookie: You're kidding right? VC actually did that? Are their any links about this? Why is there no uproar over this? ------------------ I am so exasperated that I could expectorate. [This message has been edited by CriscoKidd (edited September 21, 2000).]
well, so much for the "dream" team...more like "average cat nap" team...Lithuania almost steals the show - even without Sabonis and Zukauskas...Time for Dream team to wake up and start playing some ball instead of marinating in the idea that everyone is in awe of them...Ah, makes me almost misty thinking of the good ol' days when the original dream team would simply wipe up the floor with anyone who dared set foot upon it.. ------------------
Okay, can someone please confirm exactly what Vince Carter did? Two posters have said that he "urinated" on another player. I find that hard to believe. Please provide a link to this story. Unless, this is a joke. If it is, I don't get it.... ------------------ I have a dream.........his name's Hakeem. DREAMer's Rocket Page
I think wat he did was act like he was urinating on the player! like when you playin street ball and you act out some things when you do a good move i think thats wat happend! ------------------ "It wasn't a fight. He punched me one time, that's all. That's not a fight. I don't fight at 30,000 feet. I had an education." L8 vs Stack
Dreamer, I was being sarcastic. No, Vince Carter did not urinate on a another player. Although, after pummeling a 175lb italian to the ground with numerous elbows to the throat he stood over him at times to furthur humiliate him. It's plain and simple, Vince Carter is a thug. Supposedly, the Beneducci's are very pissed off and Carter has been peeking outta windows. ------------------ [This message has been edited by ROCKETBOOSTER (edited September 21, 2000).]
I'll take one Misty Hyman performance over anything any Dream Team ever does. If not for Rudy T's involvement, I'd be rooting for a Dream Team loss. ------------------
Im the first person to get hyped over a nasty rim shaker in a mug of an opposing team/country. Even a fan of the intense stare down afterwards. But I have become bored with all the dancing, whooping, and overall lack of taste being displayed by Vince and some of the other Dream Teamers this year. Can anyone here honestly say that back in 92 Bird, Jordan, Barkley or any other Dream teamer needed such atrocities to "be pumped" for a game? Or to strike fear in opponents? I wont watch Dream Team act like a bunch of juveniles on the court. These guys dont act like the class of the world (ok not all of them do it). Im much more impressed with a 40 point beating where you act like your supposed to win than a 40 point win where your particular dunk was the most awe inspiring feat of individuality ever. ------------------ "I have amazing, powers of observation"...Pink
Dreamshake; If Vince Carter was playing good basketball then he might have a smidgen of a case to be talking some smack - that's what Zo is doing, he's outplaying most other big men that he sees and he's telling them. What's Vince doing? Embarrassing Americans worldwide by playing PATHETIC basketball and telling everyone how good he is. Yeah. Good one Vince. And to make matters worse he is tackling people and putting them on the ground. About the urinating thing; having seen the incident where he put his forearm in the throat of some guy who was boxing him out (100% legally) and pushing him from the free throw line to be eventually throwing him to the ground outside the baseline - I found the urinating call hilarious. I included it in my post because it may as well have been what he did. He tackles a guy for about 10 feet and then stands up and tells the guy how tough he is for being able to do that. Vince Carter is wowing fans worldwide ------------------
the olympics is no place for the playground crap.vc should have left that stuff at home, don't get me wrong there is no shame in a little trash talking but to go out and intentionally embarrass(sp) some guy who is probably making a few hundred dollars a week is just wrong. ------------------ I'm not the type to eat it up but the type to hit it raw dog and seed it up.
My only complaint about VC joining the Olympic Team was that he is quite simply not mature enough for the responsibility, and he is showing it. Sure he is better than any foreign player on the court, but he is not mature enough as a professional athlete for this job. They should have known better and waited to put him on the 2004 team. I swear, I'm afraid Rudy T will never get his due. The league and players and anyone in the know in basketball knows how good he is. The casual fans and the media won't receive him as they should since he is coaching the most unexciting Dream Team yet, with Carter acting like a child. Hell, not only Vince, but no one on the Dream Team is taking this responsibility as seriously as they should, in my opinion. ------------------ I need a new signature. 302
UGH.......... Tissues for everyone!!! ------------------ There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."
And in only 4 words posted, Hoop gives all the reason why Carter and crew thinks its cool to do what he does on the court. Not that his game is speaking for itself. ------------------ "I have amazing, powers of observation"...Pink
Dreamshake, It was four words and a smiley. Don't sell me short. I am not condoning what Carter did, but you have to realize that Carter is young and frustrated right now with his play. The Italians got VERY physical with the US team, and it frustrated him. Give the kid a break. He has been thrusted into stardom almost overnight. He will grow from this and learn. Also, I am not saying it is ok to play thug-ball. I am saying that we should not lay down and take it because we are the best and "will win the gold either way." This occurs all the time on the court, olympics or not. There is no reason to tag the US national team as a disgrace because of this. Tis a bit extreme, I think. ------------------ There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."
