DowDuPont Sees `Amazing' Trump Effect on Negotiations Overseas

President Donald Trump’s approach to international trade is giving U.S. companies an unexpected boost when they negotiate overseas deals, according to DowDuPont Co. Chairman Andrew Liveris.

In what he called “a paradigm shift,” U.S. companies suddenly have leverage when negotiating with foreign countries, Liveris said Tuesday on a webcast panel from the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. That’s because nations now are concerned that if they don’t give an American corporation “a shot,” their companies could be denied opportunities in the U.S., he said.

“It’s had an unintended consequence, which is actually amazing,” Liveris said. “And maybe that, at the end of the day, is President Trump’s strategy.”

I guess the head of a $70 billion dollar company that employs over 50,000 people saying that the administrations efforts are helping a US company to secure business internationally which benefits our economy, jobs and society is not as important as Trump's hair or what he tweets.

Let's see what happened here. The head of Trump's manufacturing council who's taken business trips with Trump and got a massive tax cut that benefits him personally then talks about how great Trump is for American workers while providing exactly zero specifics. RM1981 eats it up and repeats without any further thought.

It really is depressing that there are actual people that eat this **** up at face value.

How Trump handles his more protectionist aspects of his "policy" will be interesting. China is negotiating more trade deals with the rest of the world and is working hard to enact their version of the TPP on the other side.

OP, what is going to happen when these different countries feel that US has unfair laws that only benefit americans and not foreign investors? You think US is their only option?
