When the Rockets picked up the Beard and started to roll, we were league darlings because we were the combination of three things. 1. Exciting 2. Likable 3. NOT REALLY A THREAT. No one saw us in the finals. But now we've picked up a superstar with baggage, and one who makes us an undoubted that to anyone. We're still exciting. But now we're a target. An upstart team with star players who threaten the status quo of top teams. And whom many would like to see fail. No more pleasant surprise. No more feel good stories. The Rockets want respect now, they have to go out and take it. To which I can only day. .. bring it.
i'm not sure if we were really media darlings last season. we'd finally have a game on national television yet the halftime show was usually monopolized by the big name team we were playing against that contributed to us getting that time slot on TV. Commentators not named JVG wouldn't give us much credit either. i'm ok with this. having D12 will get us more national attention (mainly butthurt negative press as of late) but clearly there's still a lot of doubt as to what our team can do. rightly so since we're just names on a roster and haven't done anything yet. let's keep our heads down like last year and blow all expectations out of the water. can't wait for the day to tell them "I told you so" with a trophy in hand and champagne in the other.
