13. Houston -- Vladimir Radmanovic, 6-10, FMP Zeleznik (Yugoslavia) Radmanovic was the hot name at the Chicago pre-draft camp even though he only participated in a private workout with Gerald Wallace and Jason Collins. The Rockets are intrigued with Radmanovic, although Houston is likely only going to keep one of its three first-round picks. Radmanovic is a versatile forward who has the moves to go one-on-one for a post-up jam, while also being able to shoot a 3-pointer. ------------------
Where did this come from? I have been hearing about him, but lets get some info in here. http://204.202.129.224/nba/nbarumors6-8.html http://sports.espn.go.com/nbadraft/player?playerId=10013 ------------------ "Chucky who? the other two picks are: 18. Houston (from Orlando, Pho. and N.Y.) Michael Bradley, 6-10, Jr., Villanova Bradley is a hard one to figure in this draft. He's got the scoring skills for a big man that teams covet, especially with the new zone rules. If he slips to No. 18, then the Rockets might have to keep him rather than package him in a trade. Houston is going to move one to two of these first-round picks, but Bradley could be too good to pass up for a team on the edge of the playoffs. 22. Houston (from Milwaukee) -- Joseph Forte, 6-4, So., North Carolina Forte could go higher, but in reality this might be the best spot for him. He's an undersized shooting guard for the NBA. But he finds a way to get into the lane and finish. If Houston is going to keep only one of the three picks then he could end up being trade bait. also cnnsi mock draft http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/basketball/nba/2001/draft/news/2001/06/11/mock_draft/ ------------------
If the Rockets waste their pick on Mirsad Tur...er Vladimir Radmanovic, I'm gonna be hella pissed RADMAN. Cool name. ------------------
Hmm... Rudy must be intent on playing some serious small ball if we're going to get another SG with a draft pick. ------------------ "Now it is more clear that it doesn't make sense. -- HeyPeeism at its convoluted best.
I think that no.22 pick of Forte is made with the intent that we'll trade him. Or, it's possible that ESPN thinks we need a backup SG, which we don't. If you watch Rocket games, you'll see that we go with a 3-guard rotation at the PG/SG with Mobley/Steve/Moochie. Therefore, having a backup SG would suck b/c it would cut into one player's minutes. ------------------ blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah
Smokey, Have you seen Radmanovic play? Do you know he is like Turkcan? If not, don't criticize someone you've never seen play. His coach says he's more NBA ready than both Dirk and Gasol. Give the guy a chance... who knows he could turn out like Peja or Dirk. But to want to pass on European players because of one mistake in Turkcan is ridiculous. ------------------ Draftsource.net-- the premier source for draft info. People always mention Turkcan, but what really happened w/ that guy? Was he a bust or did he just stay in Europe for $$$ reasons? ------------------ girl you looks good won't you mock that draft up?!
That makes 2 of us I don't mind Forte at 23 though. ------------------ President of the Steve Francis, Jamal Crawford,Larry Hughes, and Charles Woodson fan club.

Radmanovic blew away all the scouts in Chicago and Turckan did not! All the reports show that he stole the show during one of the agents private workouts. ------------------
If Rad's coach, who coached Dirk, Gasol, and Rad at one time or another, says that Rad is more NBA ready that Dirk or Pau, then that is enough to convince me that Vlad will not be the next Turkcan. ------------------ CC.NET Sim League Web Page My Team (Sonics) Runnin', Ravin', Endin', Out.
Don't forget a coach who said Rad was better than Gasol and Nowitzki at the time he entered the draft... ------------------ I have just realized that the stakes are myself I have no other ransom money, nothing to break or barter but my life my spirit measured out, in bits, spread over the roulette table, I recoup what I can nothing else to shove under the nose of the maƮtre de jeu nothing to thrust out the window, no white flag this flesh all I have to offer, to make the play with this immediate head, what it comes up with, my move as we slither over this go board, stepping always (we hope) between the lines
If Rad's coach, who coached Dirk, Gasol, and Rad at one time or another, says that Rad is more NBA ready that Dirk or Pau, then that is enough to convince me that Vlad will not be the next Turkcan. You're right, Cat. We should sign that Harlem Globetrotter player who can dunk on a 12 ft. goal. I bet he would be better than Michael Jordan and Hakeem Olajuwon combined! ------------------ CC.NET Sim League Web Page My Team (Sonics) Runnin', Ravin', Endin', Out.
Besides, a coach that coached all 3 said Radmanovic was better than Dirk or Gasol. *ahem* ------------------ "Now it is more clear that it doesn't make sense." -- HeyPeeism at its convoluted best.
I'm with The Cat on this one. There's a great deal of bias against European players on this board. But it seems like they work out as much or more than highschool/college players. 1st rounders who worked out: Sabonis, Nowitski, Shrempf, Hakeem, Mutumbo Didn't: Turkcan.... and? There might be more. Not sure. But I probably missed some more that DID work out . ------------------ Lacking inspiration at the moment...
Cat and Raven, Dont you know what all these scouts and front office personnel that spend countless hours analyzing every detail about a player are wasting their time for? I dont know about you, but I could build my draft strategy in about 10 mins; just bring the best dunkers and have a dunk contest, screw the formalized workout. If the dunks arent flashy enough, dont worry, we'll make a trip down to Rucker Park. Shoot, I dont understand why scouts and teams spend 100+ hrs a wk before the draft making these decisions, I could put together the baddest a*s team in 10 mins. My only stipulation is that our franchise playaz are Larry Hughes and Jamal Crawford; we'll put the baddest a*s dunkers in the world around them dawg. ------------------ Check out the Best Source for Draft Info Draftsource.net [This message has been edited by MManal (edited June 11, 2001).] [This message has been edited by MManal (edited June 11, 2001).]
I think we are talking about foreigners that didn't go to college. Eliminates Hakeem and Dikembe. ------------------
The thing that I find odd about Radmanovic are his numbers. I understand that his league is different as far as minutes, who gets the shots, etc. There are alot of politics involved where he comes from in. Still, even taking into account this difference, his numbers aren't that impressive, though I did like the fact he was top 10 in many categories(9.9 rebounds, about a 40 percent 3 point shooter. I always look at how foreign players do in International play, especially against the US. Nowitzki killed the US team, which is part of the reason Nelly was so high on him.He proved he could put up numbers against good competition. Radmanovic's numbers were decent, not great, which could be because he played a limited role on that team. I'm not sure how I feel about him, but if the organization feels he's the real deal, then I'm all for drafting him. ------------------
