Pope has double pneumonia; condition remains 'complex'

The statement added that the Pope's "polymicrobial infection, which has arisen in the context of bronchiectasis and asthmatic bronchitis, and has required the use of corticosteroid and antibiotics, makes the therapeutic treatment more complex.”

“A follow-up chest CT scan, to which the Holy Father was subjected this afternoon—prescribed by the Vatican medical team and the medical staff of the “A. Gemelli” Polyclinic Foundation—revealed the onset of bilateral pneumonia, requiring additional pharmacological therapy.”

I hear there’s some stem cell therapies for severe pneumonia that can save him.

When they allow this news to become public, it means his time is short.

Newscasts strike a somber tone reporting on the Pope's condition, but of all impending deaths this one might be the least sad. Francis is 88. He has lived a long and full life. Given his faith, he should be looking forward to his salvation. And Catholics everywhere should be happy for him to go and meet the Lord. Death is still scary for the person going through it, I'm sure; and Catholics may be scared of the uncertainty it engenders for church leadership. But, it is really not a tragedy for an old and highly accomplished man to die. I hope when he does go, he's at peace with it and it comes with a minimum of suffering.

RIP Pope Francis. As a baptized Catholic male, I am officially a candidate to replace him. My platform will be allowing women to be priests and bringing concession stands to churches. Mass is better with a cold Dr. Pepper and bag of peanuts. No nachos. I hate the smell of canned cheese.
