If you are a GM, which of them you think deserve the max money?

    Tim Duncan
    Jason Kidd
    Michael Olowokandi
    Elton Brand
    Brad Miller
    Gilbert Arenas
    Andre Miller
    Gary Payton
    Jermaine O'Neal
    Richard Hamilton
    Jason Terry
    Sam Cassell
    Reggie Miller
    Karl Malone
    Jerry Stackhouse
    Lamar Odom

My take: Duncan, Kidd, JO that's it.

Duncan and Kidd are locks for the Max.

I think Brand and O'neal are very close. I personally think O'neal will get the max from Indiana. I think some stupid team like the Nuggets will give Kandi the max even though he does not deserve it.

wow, that's a hell of a list. I hope the rox can get one of them, because we'll have to give our lottery pick away this this year.:(

duncan and kidd. all other players are not franchise players. Gilbert Arenas is the best young player on the list.

Kind of agree. But JO does have franchise player potential. Arenas is good but he looks to be a supporting player to me more than a franchise type, same goes for Elton Brand who I don't think deserves the max.

I think Brand will command max money.

As for Payton- he is a sociopath and over 34-lost cause unless for 1 year deal. He would be a disaster for the Rockets. A disruptive and anti chemisty force.....

Brand will get the max. But I don't think it would be a sound move for the team giving it to him.

If I am a GM, I definitely wouldn't give it to him. I don't think he's the type of guy I would build my team around if my purpose is to win championship. IMO max money is supposed to only give to franchise players because a team can only afford 2 (3 at most) max contracts these days due to the salary cap (a max deal is about 1/3 of the cap room).

Yeah, big guys typically get more money than their stats would dictate, simply because everyone needs a good big man. O'Neal & Kandi will demand more than you might think. If either of them get less than say, Cato money, it'd be a shocker.

Payton should get the max--even if only for 2-3 years. The guy is still one of the best guards in the league.

Duncan and Kidd are obvious max guys also.

Oneal and Brand probably will get the max too. The max isn't reserved for the handfull of the elite superstars capably of carrying a team--those guys (Duncan, KG, Shaq, T-Mac, Kobe) are bargains if you can get them at the max. One way to think of it is if there wasn't a max TD's contract would be more than the one KG has.

Or think of it another way, would you rather pay the max to J Oneal or Brand, or the going rate of like between 60-80% of the max for a forward like Elden Campbell, PJ Brown, Brian Grant, A Davis, SAR, Tim Thomas, Glen Rob, Ratliff, Jamison, Pippen, Lewis or Sheed? Personally, I'd rather spend a couple more mil for Oneal or Brand even if they can't carry a team by themselves.

Too bad, there is no way we can get Rip Hamillton. He would fit this team perfectly.

I agree. Not a Glen Rice 3 point shooter but has an excellent mid-range jumper. A very good one-dimensional player like Allan Houston.

I wonder how much he'll command in the open market now that teams will only spend mega bucks on their premiere players.
