I've been away from houston for awhile and I was wondering what draft pick we have this year or if we had one at all. From what I remember the Rockets traded this year's first round pick but I could be wrong.

Also what are we looking at in free agency.....do we have enough cap space to go after a quality 3 or maybe even make a run at Karl Malone at the 4 spot?

The Rockets have no chance at Malone. But they have a legit shot at a free agent like Jon Barry. The Rockets have very little use for the #13 choice they are giving up to Memphis ..even if they had it , they would probably be better off trading for vet help.

Jon Barry is one of the most inconsistent players, even for a bench player. Dont take my word for it, ask any Detroit Pistons fan.
Once again, Wesley Person is the one to go for:cool:

I think Malone & his wife went house shopping in Dallas a month or so ago, which caused a big stink with the Utah Jazz management, 'cause they had a handshake agreement that he wouldn't start looking at other teams or making any sort of movement jestures until the season was over.

We're pretty much out of cap space, which means we may not even resign Posey this year. All the big offseason movement talk is centered around trades.

Around here, the concensus is everyone's on the block except Yao & Francis.

The problem with Person is that hes not a free agent and he is signed to a 7.7mil contract for next year. Thats almost 3 times the cost of Jon Barry. Person is still a great shooter. even better than Glen Rice. But Barry brings savy, fire, skills (think Passing) and leadership that the Rockets are short on right now. The Rockets can sign low budget FAs and still re-sign Posey, no problem.
On Malone: he and his wife were also home hunting in SA..his wifes former home town..

JB and Detroit have said they will work out a deal together. I believe that. Therefore, I do not believe Jon or Brent will be in Houston as a Rock. Better chance Rick unretires, IMO.

Malone? Didn't he househunt in about 20 NBA cities? Sloan announced he is coming back to SLC. Malone will, too. And he should.

I think because it was traded for Francis who was the second overall pick.... We got some other players from Vancouver in that deal as well.
