I went out of state this week and stopped off to get some gas. I tried my card twice at the pump both times it was declined. I thought maybe since I was using it out of state some red was flag blocking it. I went in the store and was told they are currently out of gas. Go to the next store no problems. Now I get back get back home and check my accounts on line. I find a $80 charge to my debt card from the gas station. I called the number on back of the card and they say I have to call my local bank. Local bank is closed until tuesday. So I call the gas station. They said they have no access to my card from the pumps that it goes through Shell. Anyone has something like this happen to them?
Sometimes when you submit a credit card upfront to pay for a future service, the company will initially charge an usually high amount in order to approve the card before the fees for the actual purchase are incurred and then charged. This would only be relevant if your debit card either had a single charge limit below $80, or whatever bank or deposit account is tied to your debit card had a balance less than that.
If it is still pending I would wait until it actually clears before calling the bank. It could be that the gas station was just making sure there were funds available before charging you. Many companies do this.
Is the card you used a Chase card? About 3 or 4 times a week, I have customers complain about getting double charged. They are always Chase customers, and the charges always go away after 2 or 3 days.
water boarding is what you want to start with, then move on to more painful things like talking to her.
Not sure what type of card it is that says you have to call your local bank. Generally, if you phone a credit card company and tell them there is an unauthorized charge on your card, they will put a "hold" on the charge and then work to find out what the problem is.
