This is the thread that separates the homers from the bandwagoners. This is the thread of the true fans against the fair weather ones. This is the thread where you can say: "Even if they draft Joan Rivers, I am a Texans' fan." This is the thread where you can come in and pour your heart out. This is the thread that lets us know who is IN and who is OUT before we finish the season. I am a TEXANS FAN and I don't care what record they have. What are you afraid of, letting people know your pain is as much as mine? Chime in. Bump throughout the season. Let's see who's not afraid. Let's see who cheers them on regardless of what the score is. ¡¡¡VAMOS, TEXANS!!!! I know I can't be the only one who sticks with them through thick and thin Ouch, it still hurts.
I really don't know what is worse...watching the Texans steady-state of suck or the up and downs of the Astros. Both hurt, but at least the Texans is a dulled pain. It is going to be a long season. The Titans can't come quick enough.
I am a true Texans fan, which is precisely why I will complain when the Texans draft Joan Rivers or her daughter Melissa. If I didn't care about the Texans, then I wouldn't care who they drafted. Do you think I lose any sleep over Bob Gallery playing for the Raiders? Of course not. Why? Because I don't care about the Raiders one way or the other. People complain about teams they care about the most. Being apathetic about how the Texans draft is not a sign of a true fan. I support Mario Williams and I root for him to succeed. I don't think anyone here found pleasure in seeing Williams being manhandled by a TE. No one wants to see him humiliated. But that doesn't change the fact that picking him seems to be a huge mistake. We can be true fans and criticize the team. Criticizing is by no means symbolic of a lack of support. I support the Houston Texans.
I'll root for them 100% of the time, and anticipate every Sunday's kickoff ... but I know in the back of the head they will disappoint. Sadly, until Mario Williams or the rest of the defensive line actually gets to the QB regularly, and our safeties learn to tackle and have a little more awareness, it's not going to get better. I have nowhere near the bond with them that I do the Astros or Rockets. Even when the Rockets and Astros suck, I don't feel as hopeless as I do rooting for these Texans.
totally agreed. it's the weirdest mix of emotion. i never get the "i told you so" feeling while watching the 'stros or Rockets. those are my teams...i was born into those teams. my relationship with the texans is far more forced and complex!
They are my team...but it's increasingly hard to watch them. There just is no improvement and they actually look worse than last year in some ways. The offense has shown some improvement. The defense is simply terrible. I know it's going to take time to make the change from 3-4 to 4-3. It just sucks to watch this every week.
I'm a bit of a homer, however -- the rockets are my team, always have been. the astros are my team, although baseball is my least favorite of my 3 favorite sports. the panthers, and the texans are my teams (I adopted the panthers when they were expanded to). hopefully the texans can start winning some!
I love the Texans even though it's getting harder and harder to do so. I would never be such a baby as to hope for them to lose because they didn't draft who I thought they should have drafted. That being said, as I watch other games around the NFL and I see how excited the other fans get and how loud the other stadiums get and what an AMAZING environment it is in just about every other NFL city on game day, I get a little depressed. Hell, even in Cleveland while their team was snatching defeat from the jaws of victory against their ARCH rival the Ravens, the fans were so loud and excited. It looked like so much fun to be there. The one game I went to this year was NOTHING like that. I'm sure it was even worse yesterday.
Went to the game yesterday, you can't blame the fans. They were trying. The team though, well they suck. Mario Williams is a badass, the rest of the D blows
We really don't have that many guys that have to adjust. Just Peek, Babin, Payne, Greenwood, and Orr. Out of all those, Greenwood and Payne are the only guys that are really full time. And Greenwood is the only one who should have any trouble ... how hard is it to adjust from DT in 3/4 to DT in 4/3 for Payne? It should actually be easier. Peek and Babin just have to play on the line instead of outside, a bit more of a challenge but they don't have to cover the pass at all. They really can't use that as an excuse. No pass rush and poor secondary play is the problem.
i will always been on the texans side no matter what, although ive had enough times this season where i think its just sad what over teams are doing to our D.
It's really hard being a Texan fan this morning. I'm so used to reading through all the Texan threads and defending them from all the doomsday posters. It used to be so easy, but now....I just can't defend them anymore. At least until they give me SOMETHING to hang my hat on. Just a GLIMPSE of something to look forward to. I click reply and then it's like...uh, how can I argue with that? Many of the knee-jerk posts (not all of them mind you) don't seem so knee-jerk anymore. Depressing.
I'm a Texan fan. I love this team but it pains me to see them going through another year of them not being competitive. After last year and going through the draft I thought they'd at least be more competitive and entertaining to watch. Turns out they've been unable to accomplish either.
Here's something, There were three calls that went against us that could've swayed the game in our favor. If not for that unnecessary roughness call on the fumble return, we could've been within one score had we made the two-pt conversion was just the last one.
