Or divided - you know the rest.

Our Rockets need each other. For better or worse, this is like a marriage of sorts. There can be and should be no change. Not Rick, not Yao, not Tracy, not Ron. And yes not even Rafer, Shane, Chuck, Luther and the rest.

"Divide and conquer", well we are dividing ourselves. And we are right now being asked whether we are a federation of 13 states, or a single unit. There may be individual fault within players, and really no individual is above criticism on our team. But our best chance, heck our only chance against overwhelming British (Irish Celtic) odds is (to bring in the French, wait n/m) to come together not under the unity necessarily of a "leader" but under the mantle of "team".

This means to have your players back, for better or for worse. If you hold a grudge against your fellow soldier in the battlefield, you may do so at the expense of your entire unit.

This can't only happen under the banner of winning. Champions only win after they know how to come together even stronger in response to a loss. Our past Rocket Heroes have all taught us this. For them, winning never came easy either, and it will continue to not come easy to all champions. We need to become stronger when we go to 3-3 after being up 2-0, not shaken by our struggles.

I cut out the rest of what I wrote for the sake of brevity.

The whole idea of trades is to make the team better, and trades happen every single season with just about every single team. Trades are clearly the norm and not the exception.

And if this team is better off after a few select individuals are traded off then good. The team comes first.

Sure I guess part of what I cut out was that trades are necessary, but that that is the choice of Morey and that the divisiveness is more dangerous to our team than the benefit it may provide through trade.

Secondly, at this point I seriously doubt that trading Tmac/Yao or Ron will improve our team for the goal which it is built, an all out run at a championship. I mean even if the chips are down now, at least this squad gives you a chance to hit a home run versus a more predictable average postseason run.

The way the team's currently playing there is an excellent chance that they won't even make the playoffs. A loss tonight and the Rockets will probably be in the ninth spot in the West. This is not the time to be talking about championships.

See, I have two problems with this:

1.) When the US fought the Revolutionary War, no one thought of it as The United States of America. It was These United States of America. Thus, the whole 13 thing doesn't work as a united idea. The states themselves weren't really united. That's why we had the Articles of Confederation. The USA wasn't THE United States until after the Civil War.

2.) There are 14 players on the Rockets' roster. Dorsey is still on the roster.

Everybody assumes trades always work. Not true. Its possible we trade T-Mac and end up worst. Its a risky move especially when it involves one of your main focal points. It could be a hit or miss.

Yet NOW we are the United States of America, not the confederacy of nearly a century and a half in the past. We are not talking about ancient warfare, we are talking about current warfare (well, not REAL warfare but B-BALL warfare). So now we either stand united or divided we fall.

Update people, update, this aint' your great great great great great great grandfather's country anymore.
