https://nypost.com/2024/12/04/us-ne...l-in-nyc-in-possible-targeted-attack-sources/ This is wild. I am literally two blocks away from where this happened. I wonder what the story behind this is.
I heard he died at the hospital after receiving the bill and being denied due to pre-exisiting conditions... Definitely a targeted attack on the first day of their major annual investor conference. Obviously can't condone killing but the healthcare/insurance industry in America is VERY corrupt. Bet the others CEOs are shook and hiring more security.
As always, the people with the Pally flag and similar symbols are the worst people in the world. Islamists amd leftists, scum of the earth.
If I could bring the man back I would - but there is a festering level of income inequality in the West and the USA, and people with the advent of social media and the internet are more aware of that inequality than since at least the 1920's.... and the difference now is that people have a means and way to organize and act. Your MAGA isn't the same MAGA as a lot of people - that simply voted for CHANGE. There are a lot of dissatisfied people across all educational and racial backgrounds and there is a lot of instability right now. You will see a lot of people - that are not going to be overly sad that the CEO or a wealthy person that benefits off that inequality has died or was assassinated. This is going to get worse before it gets better and what it means to be a "leftist" in the near future may have little to do with trans rights or even abortion rights and everything to do with financial inequality.
Thinking there are structural problems in US healthcare and that the Uniteds of the world have something to do with that doesn't make it ok to literally celebrate the murder of an executive of that company.
I didn't say it was okay - but I don't typically celebrate anyone dying, even "bad guys". My wider point is that those with extreme means, and have profited off of the inequality in the system are seen as "bad guys" more often than you likely realize. The Peter Thiel's and Elon Musk's of the world are sky high right now believing that MAGA and dissatisfaction is because of government regulation or some other silly notion - and that isn't really what it is - the Democrats were snapped at on inflation, the overreaching issue is income inequality and control seceded to the "haves"...... the idea that it is all "leftists" or "Hamas supporters" is absurd......... mix in global instability, increased global tensions, the effects of a pandemic, 20+ years of war and you have a powder keg that can rip the thin veneer of social order off at any time.
LOL Yes Jason .... it is NY and I am sure those democrats that run the city........ it isn't the incredible lack of global stability, the level of lies fed to people, and the means and opportunity to do damage - in a time of inequality. Let's run with it being Gotham again.
Looks like the shooter was not too familiar with his gun. Common mistake is firing subsonic rounds through a suppressor. It won’t have enough gas to clear empty round out the chamber. Looks like it jammed after each shot. From my experience that means it was probably .22lr.
This is what is scary. The old Liberal vs Conservative split is being eviscerated into more of a class structure. Trump won on populism that appealed to many on the left, and was distasteful to some on the right. But I think what will happen is that anyone who seeks change from struggling to survive will be labeled a leftist. What many of those who voted for Trump believing he might improve their lives, is that he will actually accelerate wealth inequality and their struggle will in fact get worse. Consumer protections will continue to be eroded, cut in gov't spending hits this class the hardest, and things like tariffs and nepotism ultimately cost consumers. It's why interests rates have yet to drop despite fed cuts as the markets know Trump is going to increase deficits and be inflationary in his fiscal policy. But I doubt why this CEO was assassinated. A masked gunman with a silencer - this was clearly very planned out. Why this particular individual? It could be anything from something personal like a lover's quarrel to a disgruntled employee, or even something far darker.
It’s true celebrating someone’s murder crosses a line, but it’s also hard to ignore the anger toward a system where executives profit while so many suffer. Most people sympathize with his family but let’s not pretend these companies lose any sleep over the lives their shady practices harm. The frustration comes from knowing justice rarely touches the top. Biden pardoning his son this week doesn't help with that narrative either.
