I have to express my sympathy for Yao.

First off, lets say he gets a 10 million contract for 3 years

US taxes take 40% of it.

that leaves 6 million and China gets 50% of it

and that leaves him with 3 Million, take a cut away from the agents, like 10%

hes left with 2.7 million. Still a big step up from the $75,000 he was making in China though. But I am sure alot of merchandise will be sold on his behalf and China gets it shair of that too. I feel so lucky to be an American.

Actually I think that you are wrong about that they are taking 50% of his contract value if I am not mistaken. And redoing the math that leaves him with about $900,000 still not bad but he is getting raped. Thank god for Nike they will compensate him nicely remember that they even helped Vince Carter when he got sued they paid his debt.

I believe an agent's cut is 4%. However, I thought I read somewhere that his representatives are not taking a cut.

One more time. For those who thing Ming is just going to be a bust.

How many of you will go to another job and not only NOT get a raise but be in debt for 3 million dollars?????

Well, Ming is and he's doing it because he loves the game, wants to improve and play with the best.

Add that heart and desire to 7'5" and b-ball skills and that, my freind is something very special. He might not be an all-star right off the bat but he's going to get there. Did anyone mention he's very coachable.

Sure, Nike or some other sporting goods deal may get him some more money, but thats besides the point.

Does any player in the NBA love the game so much that he is willing to go into debt to play? Enough said.

Bottomline, it's not fair to Ming but that will only make him desire to be the best more.

Geez. Do you guys know enough of US and Chinese tax law regarding take home pays, overseas earning etc etc to even worry about MIng's earning? Nothing substantiate about his earning comes out yet, everything else is speculation. I bet people around Ming are better informed and maybe smarter than us. I wouldn't worry a bit how much he earns.

Very cool picture though W&S. I've hated these Tang wear when they comes out everywhere, but it seems fit on Ming somehow.
