While Broussard goes off into a little drivel there, the MDA point is one I definitely agree with. If you are going to have Harden iso, CP3 iso and then add Butler to that mix? It's not just throw them together and it's going to work. We need a coach who comes up with a plan to have more off the ball movement to get all those guys involved or else it's going to get ugly. Also, Butler will be in guys faces and Harden will not accept Butler as the leader. MDA won't be the one to get all guys on the same page. Butler has an ugly side, which people seem to forget about. I fear all of this with MDA at the helm and the personalities of CP3 and Harden. Thoughts?
Stating the obvious: Chris Broussard is a joke and nothing he says should be taken seriously. He says it won’t work? You can bet the farm it will.
And the first year Harden and CP3 had no chance to be good together either. No one knows till it's happening on the court.
I don’t care if it’s stating the obvious, he has a point many fans don’t want to acknowledge. And staggering 2 guys minutes to have 48 minutes of elite PG play is doable, which has already caused some frustration. Not the same as adding another wing to that mix with some serious ego issues and an in your face approach. I love Butler but even if Harden can handle his ways, can MDA be the coach we need him to be? That’s a legitimate concern,
butler will get all the touches he can handle. he'll be the #2 after harden. Paul will be the one taking the hit on offense. he can't iso anymore. he'll either be a spot up shooting (ugh, for $40M), or run more motion to help get the second unit (all vet min guys) stay competitive on offense.
Remember when we traded for Paul and everybody wouldn’t shut the **** up about how Paul and Harden would never ever work, how terrible of a fit they would be, not enough ball to go around, Paul would clash with Harden And then we proceeded to have the best record in the league, set a Rockets all time win high, MVP for Harden, EOTY for Morey, were about to knock off arguably the greatest team of all time and go on to win a ring, before Paul got injured? Dudes don’t know **** about fit. Y’all know who does? Durell the Wizard And Mikey D Tony.
Were the Rockets a lottery team the last two years? Listening to the silly talking heads you'd swear the Rockets were the Knicks or the Suns. Hell they speak more highly of the Lakers and they DIDN'T MAKE THE PLAYOFFS LAST YEAR! The Warriors have repped the West the last 5 years in the NBA Finals. That means 15-0 vs the mighty Western Conference in that span. So why don't these idiots have a show about what won't work for the other teams in the West because they haven't beaten the Warriors in a series either.
These guys are just afraid. They know that if we can get Butler and not have to give up the farm, that the Rockets could become the real favorites this year. It would absolutely sicken the NBA media world if Harden/MDA/Morey ever win a ring. That's the root cause of it. Jimmy would be a perfect fit here. I'm not concerned with the ego crap. These guys are all vets. Jimmy wouldn't be playing with stars still in there early 20's. I really hope this happens, and I hope Broussard and the rest of the media choke on it.
You guys need to focus on the subject, not all the circumstantial factors. All those guys are just saying stuff, but they make a good point. You can acknowledge that while realising their motivation or stay childish and let yourself be driven by ego since you couldn’t bear the thought of acknowledging Broussard or Skip actually make good points from time to time.
I love how so much of the media and former players are trying hard to discourage Butler to Houston.... makes me want this to happen even more.
D'Antoni is capable of making the offense more dynamic, will Harden, CP3 and maybe Bulter buy into more ball movement? Bottom line is that Jimmy will understand what situation he's getting into if he agrees to demand a trade here (which is already a pretty darn big stretch to get the 76ers to trade to us). Harden and Chris need to play off each other more plain and simple, regardless of if we're able to get more significant players or not. We're not getting the same foul calls or easy PnR buckets in the playoffs.
Incredible that people forget that last year was a product of the injuries and guys not hitting their shots. Butler was 19 4 5 from 33 minutes last year, Gordon was 16 2 2 from 32. Even without any changes, and there are bound to be some, he could fit in without too much trouble. Add in the missed games that will inevitably come, along with more rest for all as a luxury of having 3 stars and they'll be fine. The option to sit James early, have Paul and Butler compete with opposing 1st units at a very high level, then rest then with Harden going solo with the vet mins is huge. Where would teams get any test for their starters?
Just chasing names With harden and butler it’s good fit With harden & CP3... need to bring a big that can shoot and pass in
