This will be UNC's return to glory. They are bringing everyone back, and adding a stud in Marvin Williams. According to Dean Smith, MW is THE best player on the team right now. Apparently he's been schooling May up and down. Dean also said that he was the best freshmen power forward to ever come through UNC. That includes Rasheed.

Watch out. The Heels are the real deal this year ;)

Jawad Williams. I love the way this kid plays. It will be nice to see him play small forward this year, as he has been playing out of position at power forward. One of the premier man to man defenders in the NCAA. This is the one player in the NCAA ranks that I would love to see the Rockets select in next year's draft.

Well, if Marvin Williams is indeed better than Rasheed his frosh year, why would MW go to UNC instead of being a top 3 pick this past summer? 2004 was a pretty weak year for NBA draft and if Howard could have been #1......who is just a lesser player than Rasheed or Stackhouse when they were frosh.

This does not make sense unless MW wants to be a role model like Duncan and stays in college for 4 years and get a degree.;)

    First exhibition game tonight...

Starting lineups were Felton/McCants/Jackie/Jawad/May. Marvin, Thomas, Scott were the key players off the bench.

Felton: Tonight his shot wasn't there, but his court vision and all the other intangibles he brings were. He's a hell of a PG -- better than TJ Ford was and is, as he actually has a shot beyond 5 feet. He'll be gone after this year, and should be the perfect PG for an uptempo team.

McCants: This guy continues to amaze. He has an NBA body, and probably could've gone pro any of the past two years. He simply doesn't miss from outside, has a great post up game for a guard, and turns it up another level when he needs to. A lot of people around here say he's a headcase, an issue that will certainly be brought up a lot pre-draft. Regardless, he's a great shooter who should be a player in the pros.

Jackie: The crowd favorite. The goofiest guy you'll ever see. The ugliest shot ever created. He looks to have actually improved his inconsistant shot, knocking down a few outside shots tonight. Jackie is all hustle, 100% of the time. He's the perfect role player, playing defense and doing all the small things no one notices. He's a key player this year for the Heels. As far as NBA, he might be a second rounder. He's a scrap player, kind of like a Bo Outlaw mold in a SF form. I guess you could say he's like a Ryan Bowen.

Jawad: Finally, he's returned to his pre-concussion form. He's a hell of a player, and hell of a shooter. He can mix it up inside, or hurt you from the three. He's extremely athletic and versatile. Reminds me a lot of an Al Harrington player, only with a better shot. With the right coaching and developement, he could be a great roleplayer on any team.

May: Nothing really stood out about May tonight. I don't remember him doing much of anything, good or bad. Although he did slim down. As far as NBA, May might be like an Eddie Curry, with a better inside game. If he can get a good work ethic, he might be something special.

Scott: I hate this guy with a passion. Why he's still here is beyond me. I hope he doesn't get off the bench. Another horrible shooting performance tonight. Ugh.

    Now for the diaper dandies...

Marvin: He didn't impress me tonight. After all the hype, and the hype I told ya'll, I didn't see much. He's certainly capable of it -- he's an athletic specimen. 6'9 SF, athletic like none other, shooting range past the three point line. He needs to work on finishing near the hoop, he had a few missed layups in traffic. I'd also like to see him finish stronger, going for the slam than putting it off the glass. But this was just one game, we'll see what he develops into as the season moves on

Thomas: Wow. Wow wow wow wow. Thomas was amazing -- and he didn't even score much. The forgotten rookie is another Felton. He has incredible court vision, with several no-look passes in traffic that were dead on. This kid will be something special, great PG awareness. Wow.

Well, it was one exhibition game, but there ya go -- I'll try to update thoughts periodically if anyone cares.

    Oh yeah, final tonight:

    UNC 113, WSSU 54
