http://www.nba.com/news/robinson_060512.html Nets’ Clifford Robinson Suspended NEW YORK, May 12, 2006 – The NBA announced today that Clifford Robinson of the New Jersey Nets has been suspended without pay for five games for violating the terms of the NBA/NBPA Anti-Drug Program. Robinson’s suspension will begin with tonight’s game between the New Jersey Nets and the Miami Heat. Can you say STUPID EX-JAIL BLAZER?
Wasn't Cliff Robinson on the Trailblazers long before they became the Jailblazers? Did he end up back there at some point? Regardless, this is terrible news for Nets fans. The Nets just aren't deep enough to take a hit like this in the playoffs.
Interesting question that I think cannot be answered very easily. First I need to ask - is there a strict drug policy in NHL? Do they test for "greenies"? We may never know why we do not hear such news from NHL. Maybe it has to do with the background of the players that make it to NHL. I will bet that if you maybe look closer you will find out that NHL might have its issues as well that may not be common in the other sports you named. And FWIW, when we say NFL and NBA it is important we stress that the problem is with only a small percentage - not the whole league.
There is NO drug policy AT ALL in the NHL. You could skate around puffing a doobie with a syringe sticking out of your butt and they can't say anything other than "No smoking, please"
Give Robinsons credit-stoner or not- he is still playing at a competitive high level at 38 years old.
