This stat is from week 14 of the season. The Seattle Seahawks have given up a total of 19 punt return yards for the entire YEAR! 10 was given up to Ginn in week 1, but only 9 yards in those games combined. https://twitter.com/NFL_ATL/statuses/413356122125660160
That's amazing. But I wonder if some of that has to do with a possible strategy of simply not kicking the ball as far as possible to minimize returns (especially when in their own territory). They likely have so much faith in their defense that they just don't want to risk a big return on punts. Upon further review... Seahawks punter Jon Ryan has the 5th lowest average yds per punt in the league. So either he doesn't have a booming leg or they just don't let him kick it as far as possible. A lot of credit still has to go to the coverage team though.
Guess the final answer is whatever mathematical comparison between punt average vs return yardage. If SEA's yards surrendered outweighs the lacking kick average, they're ballin.
