Yay, my first D&D thread. This one should spark some debate.

These videos have been making the rounds on the internet lately - produced by UK's Channel 4. Scary stuff in six parts. All sorts of extremist teachings being taught at mainstream UK mosques. Also shows how the Saudis have been training Wahabi clerics and sending them to Britain to spread their ideology.

"You must live like a state within a state until you're strong enough, then you take over."

"Allah has created the woman - even if she gets a PhD - deficient. Her intellect is incomplete, deficient. She may be suffering from hormones that will make her emotional. It takes two witnesses of a woman to equal the one witness of the man."

"King, Queen, House of Commons... if you accept it, you are a part of it. If you don't accept it, you have to dismantle it."

"Not one person here loves the kuffaar (infidels). WE HATE THE KUFFAAR!"

And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Why would any mainstream British people want to believe that stuff? Are people really that stupid?

This is in England, not in Pakistan. Most of those people don't understand Arabic. And yeah, these mosques are packed full of people - from grown men to young kids - every week listening to this stuff and believing it 100%.

    (commercial during the game)

This kind of crap scares the hell out of me. If the Saudi's are sending extremists to Britain, or anywhere else, to push their extreme sect of Islam that calls for overthrowing the state, then keep their sorry butts out of the country. I don't believe in a god, but god help us all from this ****.

I'm glad we don't have that sort of thing going on in America.

I feel the same way about idiots like this, as well, but they're home grown.

i was under the impression to be a true muslim that you had to read the koran, and worship in its native tounge????

this is why i'm confused regarding the war on terror and more specifically the muslim extremists.

we (america) hate iran and hated saddam. both were/are sunni run. albeit run by dicators and crazy people, but they still align with sunni. the sunni's weren't trying to kill us.

on the other hand, we have basically the rest of the middle east that is shia. wahhabism is a shia sect, and that is the sect which the terrorists derived... so why are we attacking/threatening the sunni?

You got your facts wrong. Wahhabism is a Sunni sect in Saudi Arabia. And Iran is a Shi'ite state.

And most of the middle east is run by Sunni governments. Until Iraq got "liberated", Iran was the only Shi'ite run government. That's why much of the Middle East is very fearful of a powerful Iran. Until now, Sunni governments have dominated the Middle East but a byproduct of the fall of Saddam has been the rise of Shi'ite seperatist movements in other states. In Bahrain (a relatively moderate country), Shi'ites have started challenging the government and even some violence has erupted. Also, you can't say terrorists just come from Wahhabi states. There are even more strict sects than Wahhabism that also breed fundamentalists. Although the Saudis have done a fine job in exporting Wahabi teachings to other parts of the world.

Also, it's not like Sunnis like us and Shi'ites hate us or vice versa. There are radical elements in both branches of Islam that oppose the West.

That's incorrect. To my knowledge the only sticking point is the Koran ... you won't find many English translations lying around because they believe it has to be kept in the original Arabic. But it doesn't mean they can't preach in English.

Iran is ruled by Shia muslims. Iraq is actually majority Shia, but Saddam was a Sunni and so were most of his henchmen. After Saddam got deposed many of the Shi'ites were bitter wanted retribution against the Iraqi Sunnis. That's why you have so much unrest in Iraq today.

Also, terrorism isn't restricted to Shia muslims. IIRC many of the Palestinians who are members of Hamas and certain other militant Islamic organizations are Sunnis (they're the ones erecting Saddam statues in his honor after his death).

The same kind of stuff that has been going on in churches & mosques for centuries.

    Ignorance has no particular faith.

Encouraging violence against women, promoting revolution and jihad? Teaching parents to encourage their kids to aspire to be suicide bombers? Sure.

The Protestant church has a history of calling for the deaths of homosexuals and the fire bombing of abortion clinics. All religions teach ignorance of some sort.

Catholic and Protestant churches in Northern Ireland used to preach that kind of stuff several years ago.

The idea that someone that recieves the freedom that America and England allow in terms of speech, rights and otherwise and lives in that country would constantly denounce it is ludicrous.

Some were converts, but most are immigrants that come to these countries
for opportunity. The irony of it is that if these guys spoke against the government in Syria, Jordan or Saudi, they'd be picked up by secret police
and not heard from again. They use the freedoms allowed by the country to denounce the country.

I say revoke their visa and send them back to the 17th century sh#thole they came from. And I say this as the child of immigrants and a muslim.

Freedom of speech is freedom of speech. Remember the American Nazi Party? What is needed is to teach people how to recognize stupidity when the see or hear it. That is what's not being done. When you say something like "I say revoke their visa and send them back to the 17th century sh#thole they came from", you are playing into their hands.
