Well the western conference has had a couple of interesting days. And i think the balance of power may have swung to the blazers. After getting Kemp they also got DALE DAVIS.

Dang, i had hopes of beaten them this season.

Oh no - Blazers frontline looks formidable now. Wonder what kind of chemistry they're gonna have.

The Blazers will implode faster than the 98/99 team.

Do they still have Humpty? If so, I know exactly where how they'll finish the season. [IMG]

How the hell are they going to give all those guys playing time? Sabonis won't play more than 25 minutes per game but what do they do with the rest? Seems like they are setting themselves up for the same problems as they've had in the past.

An all-star PF is easy to deal, unproven youngstar is hard to deal. I won't be surprised if they have another trick in their sleeves. When did this trade happened. Last time I checked ESPN, there wasn't a single article mentioning about this trade.

I think it's obvious they're going to play Kemp ALOT at the 5. He has the bulk to body up with Shaq.

Anyone remember how well Davis played Shaq in the finals? IMO the Blazers are gonna throw *everybody* - Sabonis, Kemp, Wallace, and Davis at Shaq to wear him down. Sounds like a good strategy to me.

With Kemp, Davis, and Sabonis, is a running game possible? What about transition defense? I don't see how the Blazers have improved an already excellent team with these moves.

The Blazers have definitely improved. Better scoring with Kemp, better rebounding and defense with Davis. They're looking good. I wouldn't hand over the championship to the Lakers just yet. The Blazers and the Heat definitely have what it takes to challenge.

    ROcketExpert,

Running games do not win in the playoffs. You need a good solid offense to consitently win.

IMO..the blazers didn't need more talent. They already have a talented team. I didn't think they made good coaching decisions. I like their coach, but they had a better team than the Lakers and couldn't get the job done. Now they have gotten rid of their young players for some older vets. Kemp and Davis together doesn't equal a B.Grant. Kemp in his younger and slimmer days...yes, but now...no. After this team falls short the next two years (that is my prediction), they will have a hell of a time rebuilding.

Not that this is in the correct forum or anything.... [IMG]

Just exactly how are the Blazers paying all of these people? How are we maxed out with the players we have and the Blazers are picking up players like Kemp and Davis when they already have Quitten and the rest?

    Just wondering.

I can see Bob Whitsitt trying to make this trade: Rasheed Wallace + Damon Stoudamire for Gary Payton. That would almost guarantee a championship if that happened.

    Pippen+Kemp+Davis+Payton+Smith = Scary.

Just because a point guard is a rookie doesn't make them good....

Jalen Rose and Travis Best are pretty darn good options at PG anyway!

As stated earlier, a running game doesn't really win in the playoffs - but regardless, only Sabonis is unable to play a running game.
Have you even seen D.Davis play?? He's up and down the floor pretty quick!
Have you seen Kemp play (weight and all) - when he wants to he can run with the best of them!
As for defensive purposes - well we all know Davis is an excellent defender and rebounder and Kemp is certainly capable of playing defense - I guess he'll be playing C which could involve a little bit of a transition for him defensively, but they should be ok!!

They are picking up people in trades - that way the fact that they already exceed the cap doesn't matter because they will just be exceeding it again.

The way they got to be able to exceed the cap?

Those players on the massive contracts are mostly "bird rights" players - they were signed to massive contracts after becoming Blazers or traded for players who earned similar amounts of money

Ok, so it's a pretty poor explanation, but you get the point.... the Blazers cant just sign anyone, they need to pick 'em up in trades...

The Blazers are so far over the cap they will fall flat on their faces. But not this year. They can acquire only through similiar trades or by exemptions now.

The team will look like an old folks home in a couple of years.

I thought they lacked some young legs late in the playoff games. I thought they lacked some direction in the offense and defense last year. There were just too many cheifs and not enough indians. It seems like they will have the same problems this season.

However, they will be appear formidable. They will be slow at first, then be awesome from game 15 to the allstar break. After that they will start to fade a bit as the 80+ game season will take it's toll. They will not have the consistency to break out and make long runs.(I might say that is the only thing that scares me about the Rockets also.)

Going to be fun in the West this year!

Yeah, the Rockets' rebuilding in one year was nothing compared to that masterful job done in Indiana. A rookie PG, 3 unproven high school players, and a reserve making over $7 million a year.

    Whatever.
