Someone mentioned this eating establishment in a thread about New Orleans a few weeks ago. I can't go far enough back to find it so we have a new thread. I checked out the website http://www.uglesichs.com/ and then I saw them when they happened to be featured on Emeril Live. I ordered the cookbook. We have made a half dozen of the recipes so far and every one is great. We made the oyster-brie soup last night and that stuff should be against the law! Thanks to whoever posted this originally. Those of you who love good food, buy a copy. Rookie
That would have been me. You REALLY should visit them in NOLA--especially seeing as they probably won't be open much longer. They open at 10:30 in the morning for lunch--I recommend you get there at 10:20. One of my favorite menu items is not in the cookbook--it's their fried oysters. I'm pretty sure they take blue cheese (actually, I know there is blue cheese in them), add a little milk and blend it up to make a smoothie like consistency. They then dip the oysters in the blue cheese smoothie and then roll them in corn meal before frying them. (I'm guessing on all of this, but I'm ususally pretty good at nailing recipes) Holy cow but they are good! They also make one of the best bloody mary's I've ever had in a town known for MANY really good bloody mary's. I love New Orleans! What an awesome town for hole in the wall restaurants.
