LINK Okay, the cause is great of course, but who the hell are most of these bands/people? Britpop & Brit "rock" are ridiculous these days... And wtf is the lead singer of The Darkness doing talking **** to Bono. He's the leader singer of the freaking Darkness. They suck. The entire premise of their band/music is to mimic the glory days of hair metal...
Isn't he the President of Middle Earth Records? The record company that is headlined by Samwise and the Fur Feet, singing their hit song "Po--Tay--Toe", off the album "Sergeant Bilbo's Lonely Hobbit Club Band"
Speaking of 80s Aid concerts, I was at Best Buy over the weekend surfing the DVD section and found a newly released copy of the original Live Aid concert. Snatched it up for the memories alone... I fondly remember that year, back when U2 was a halfway decent band.
Looks like things are settled as far as the song goes, but I'm sure this Justin Hawkins and Bono thing could just be starting. Bono has won out in the rock rivalry over who should sing the most famous line of Do They Know It’s Christmas?, it was confirmed today. Organisers of the Band Aid 20 single revealed that he would once again sing, “And tonight thank God it’s them instead of you”, as he did two decades ago. The U2 front man flew in to Britain late last night to re-record the line after The Darkness singer Justin Hawkins claimed he had performed a superior version. Bono sang the line on the original version in 1984 released to raise money for the famine in Ethiopia. Meanwhile, Madonna has lent her support to the new Band Aid single by recording an introduction to the song's music video. The star will tell fans to "feed the world" before the video gets its premiere on BBC One on Thursday. David Bowie had the same role with the original in 1984. Madonna was not among the stars who assembled to record 'Do They Know It's Christmas?' in London at the weekend but she did perform at Live Aid almost 20 years ago. Here are the final confirmed vocal lines for the single: Chris Martin: It’s Christmastime, there’s no need to be afraid At Christmastime, we let in light and we banish shade Dido: And in our world of plenty we can spread a smile of joy Throw your arms around the world at Christmastime Robbie Williams: But say a prayer, Pray for the other ones At Christmastime it’s hard, but when you’re having fun Sugababes: There’s a world outside your window And it’s a world of dread and fear Fran Healy: Where the only water flowing Fran Healy & Sugarbabes: Is the bitter sting of tears Fran Healy & Justin Hawkins: And the Christmas bells that ring there are the clanging chimes of doom Bono: Well tonight thank God it’s them instead of you Will Young & Jamelia: And there won’t be snow in Africa this Christmastime The greatest gift they’ll get this year is life Ms Dynamite & Beverly Knight: (Oooh) Where nothing ever grows No rain nor rivers flow Group of ten & Joss Stone: Do they know it’s Christmastime at all? Tom Chaplin (Keane): Here’s to you Justin Hawkins (Darkness): Raise a glass for everyone Dizzee Rascal: Spare a thought this yuletide for the deprived If the table was turned would you survive Busted: Here’s to them Justin Hawkins (Darkness): Underneath that burning sun Dizzee Rascal: You ain’t gotta feel guilt just selfless Give a little help to the helpless Joss Stone & Justin Hawkins: Do they know it’s Christmastime at all? Tom Chaplin: Feed the world Tom Chaplin & Chris Martin: Feed the world Tom Chaplin & Chris Martin & Sugababes: Feed the world Tom Chaplin & Chris Martin & Sugababes: Feed the world Everyone (in the big studio) Feed the world Let them know it’s Christmastime again – repeated Fran Healy: Woooo Group of 10: Feed the world Everyone (in the big studio) Feed the world – repeated to end Joss Stone – Ad Libs over outro http://breakingnews.iol.ie/entertainment/story.asp?j=124256706&p=yz4z574yz
and they told Paul McCartney he could play bass guitar but not sing..... If Paul McCartney could accept that then what's up with Bono.
Oh goodie. We get to hear a bunch of multi-gazillionaires lecture us about feeding the world again. Just in time for the holidays. "There are "sensitive young artists" with high ideals Who "recognize the danger" and stuff their ears with fame" - Ten Hands, Greenhouse Effect
ima, this is ok. there's nothing wrong with being reminded that it's a good idea to be selfless...that it's good to remember those that have a lot less than we do. judge it by the fruit it bears...if it calls people to consider their place in the world relative to others, than it's a good thing.
Whew! I was beginning to think I was the only one who thought those guys stink. Boooo! Let us be the judge of your lame jokes.
True. It would just be nice to see these guys practice what they preach. These are the same people who see no problem spending in some cases millions of dollars for a dress and some jewelry for an award show. These are the people that are going to hassle me and my 5-figure salary about being selfless? I don't think so.
