I was so impressed by Penn in those first two rounds, but then he was totally gassed in Rd. 3 and Hughes was able to win.
That's what I was afraid would happen. Ugh. I didn't watch it, though. Penn had given Georges St. Pierre a beating for about 2 rounds - Pierre's face looked like he had gotten hit by a truck. Then in the 3rd round he got gassed from the looks of it and lost a 3 round decision to him. GSP and Hughes are the best fighters in that division probably in the UFC. Crap, I wanted Penn to win!
i'm sure it's on youtube by now. Penn dominated, and Hughes was so frustrated cause he couldn't do anything. Then Penn had Hughes in an armbar and a triangle at the same time, but those moves wore him out, and he was useless in Rd 3. GSP totally dissed Hughes after the fight also. He said he was glad he won, but wasn't impressed and Hughes got pissed.
Crap. That makes me sick. BJ Penn was a badass. But you look at him and wonder how the hell he could beat anybody. lol. Maybe if he works on his cardio or something because apparently he had both GSP and Hughes beaten until the last round. Arrggg...
Remember that pitiful look on Hughes face after BJ choked him out last time? That is exactly what he looked like after Round 2, but BJ could barely walk back to his corner...then it was over.
i've seen this UFC crap, and it IS crap...all they do is roll around like 2 animals shagging. if i wanted to see crap like that , i'd watch a nature documentary.

That's why God invented the Pride FC where all the big boys hang out. Hey.....to any UFC fans out there, I heard a rumor that the prize for winning a heavyweight bout in the UFC is 5000 bucks and two tickets to a Cher concert. Any truth to this? What, I'm just saying...
bj penn is fat. im glad he lost. i would love to see him face the fireball kid again, just so all the penn nuthuggers can shut up. they always gotta bring up the penn/gomi fight everytime. the fireball kid has improved greatly while penn has well.........gotten fat.
Penn had his back and couldn't submit him, wearing himself out in the process. Hughes stood up the next round and beat him senseless. This just further proves the greatness of Matt Hughes to me.
according to BJ Penn's website, he said he wasn't gassed, but hurt his ribs when he tried to submit Hughes. He said he let Hughes pass his guard because he'd rather have Hughes hit him in the face then let him punch him in the ribs because it hurt too much. Hughes vs GSP should be fun to watch.
That sucks but it explains how he could be basically frustrating Hughes in so many points of the first 2 rounds and all of a sudden look like a bum in the 3rd round. There needs to be a rematch!!!
