http://www.rawstory.com/news/2006/Press_secretary_to_president_of_Pakistan_0905.html Bin Laden wins again.
Didn't he put out a video at the end of June/Beginning of July? He's probably alive but his significance is somewhat mooted today by the fact that Al Qaeda is so much more decentralized and fragmented than it used to be. The original invasion of Afghanistan split the whole organization up. Also, he really doesn't have any money anymore, so at this point, he's nothing more than a symbolic figure. But in terms of Pakistan, they've finally just started to give up. Their troops are so scared of Al Qaeda and fringe terrorist groups in the mountains, that they don't even bother trying to go after them anymore. Also, unlike Afghanistan, American troop movements are restricted in Pakistani territory so it's much easier for Al Qaeda to operate in Pakistani territory.
what does that have to do with anything related to Al Qaeda? Bin Laden is in North Pakistan along the Afghan Border with the rest of Al Qaeda. Kashmir is in the Southeast bordering India. Invading Kashmir would probably turn what little support we have in Pakistan against us and kill maybe the most important ally in the region against us since I guarantee there will be a fundamentalist coup and Musharaff will get thrown out. So we'll get another Taliban-esque state, only this time with nuclear weapons and a neighbor like India that's on hair trigger alert.
why shouldnt bin laden be allowed to live a peaceful life? what did he do wrong? bush has said he doesnt spend alot of time thinking about him and he's not concerned about him and if THE DECIDER isnt concerned than im not either...rest easy america! and its not like he has been charged in connection with 9/11. you can go to the fbi's own website and see his wanted poster and there is no mention of 9/11. http://www.fbi.gov/wanted/topten/fugitives/laden.htm just let the guy alone - havent we done enough already?
I know it probably doesn't mean much in terms of their official policy, but i'm just pissed off that someone in a high ranking position in Pakistan would make such an idiotic statement. If Bin Laden is found and Pakistan lets him go about his way, I would have no mercy with the sons of b****es. If my ally turns his back on me, he becomes my enemy. The Pakistan people and government seem to have a hardon for Kashmir. That's why i'd hand it over to India on a silver platter if Pakistan betrays us.
Cold as steel the darkness waits, its hour will come. A cry of fear from our children worshipping the sun. Mother natures' black revenge on those who wasted her life. War babies in the garden of Eden, Shall turn our ashes to ice. Sunrise has gone, freezing up the fires. Sunrise has gone, numbing our desires. Around the world the people stop, With terror stricken eyes. A shadow cast upon them all, To crush them like a fly. In the icy rain and whiplashed seas, There's nowhere left to run. The hammer blows of winter fall like a hurricane. Sunrise has gone, freezing up the fires. Sunrise has gone, numbing our desires. Around the world the nations wait, For some wise word from their leading light. You know it's not only madmen who listen to fools. Is this the end, the millions cried, Clutching their riches as they died. Those who survive must weather the storm. Gone are the days when man looked down. They've taken away his sacred crown. To be set free, it took so long. It's not journey's end, it's just begun.
I already work for the government and serve a fairly important niche when it comes to security. But if I can do more good by being over there, you bet I am.
Sorry dude, but being a security guard at Houston city hall doesn't count. You need to go enlist and fight for what you believe in.
Your post really represents a larger problem with American foreign policy, which is the short-sighted nature of our thinking. So we invade Kashmir in retribution for Pakistan's betrayal. Then what happens? Like I said, I guarantee that Pakistani militants and radical fundamentalists overthrow the government. Musharaff is already having tons of problems but having an American sanctioned invasion (with what I guarantee is a unilateral invasion with no international support) would pretty much be the death of the regime. So imagine a taliban-esque regime with nuclear weapons and conveniently housing much of Al Qaeda leadership. You think things are bad now, but good god this would be the creation of the official terrorist state that borders an already paranoid nation in India. And to top things off, both countries have nuclear weapons.
