Looking to get a bit extra cash flow until my commissions start rolling in. Anyone have experiences or stories as an employee? I already registered and am just waiting for them to confirm me.
I have a good friend that does Uber on the weekends for some extra dough. He and the wifey are expecting within the next month. From what he's told me, you have to pass a very minimal physical to be authorized and your driving history has to be pretty good. (I'm disqualified for my "criminal speeding" misdemeanor from my rental car, coming back from Vegas. In a Corvette, I was doing 107 in a 65, heading back to Phoenix. I really had no idea that I was going that fast. It was 1 in the morning, I was sober and I had some Gucci Mane/Shawty Lo keeping me awake. However, I barely escaped being cuffed until I took a those idiotic tests and received a $985 ticket ) Also, make sure your care is in great shape and is comfortable to drive in. Most people go with UberX, but if you have a bigger SUV, I believe it's called UberXL. Another cool thing is that passengers have a rating. So, you can see if the person you're picking up was rated low by Uber drivers based on their behavior, promptness and probably whether or not they puked in your whip. I think it could be fun if you're outgoing. Go for it. Good luck.
I've heard its 80% of the fair with minimum $5 fair. If it's less that that, and I don't like it if I get approved, I suppose I could just not drive. Regardless, I gotta put food on the table. If not uber, I figure I'll start looking for a part time weekend gig somewhere.
I saw Domino's advertising $15-$20 an hour for delivery drivers + mileage reimbursement. I have to imagine that would be close to, if not more than what an Uber driver would make on the side.
That happened to me in Chicago...and you're right, it's awkward. He kept going on and on and I almost felt like apologizing for daring to open the app and get a ride. Weird.
Ask PaulwtfK who ubers around with his Tesla S to pay it off. But seriously breh, I thought you moved to Dallas for a better career opportunity. You want some money on the side? Try fanduel or DK.
At the current rates, there is no way the drivers net any money. I took Uber home last weekend it it was $25. About 21 miles from my house.
Sometimes you gotta take a step back to take steps forward. Sales aren't immediate unfortunately so I'm just trying to get money while I wait on the sales part to kick in.
Uber is one of the best ways to network. Most times passengers ask what you do as a main job. I heard real estate agents love to do it.
Did you apply already? If you use my code Vt57bv, you get $100 After your 20th trip. I make decent money in DFW. Amazon flex is the best though. $250 a day after tips. Hard to get time blocks though. Everyone wants to work for amazon. I made $600 in two days with Amazon.
It seems like Lyft is gaining steam on Uber as the go to for drivers and passengers alike. At least where I live, it is.

Yeah, amazon flex is great... If you can get blocks... During holiday pay (2 days before Xmas) managed ~$220 off 6 deliveries in 6 hours, could of made more but got stuck with limited deliveries that time. The good news is I got paid $27 an hour before tips to sit....just would have liked more stops. Hopefully it picks up eventually, super easy though. I work full time and am a student at UT, but was hoping to continue during weekends for extra cash flow, just no blocks in Austin either. On a side note, apparently it's pretty common for them to over hire. I came across reddit thread discussing it. The trainer I had for the program was basically bsing, she was flat out asked about over hiring and she responded with "we learned our lesson in Seattle, and it won't happen here, there'll be plenty of blocks", and there's not, lol. Oh well... made some quick cash. I was thinking about Uber, but it's a mess here in Austin (I'm pretty sure Uber is leaving).
