I love boxing… but, I wouldn’t watch this fight if they were
    giving it away for free.

P.S. I hope Tyson gets his butt kicked and retires for good.

It's funny when ppl take the moral high ground when it's popular to do so.

Let the man fight. Unless you are getting in the ring with Tyson, you have nothing to say.

I have a question for boxing fans:

Does Tyson actually deserve this fight? It seems he went from prison to the title fight very quick... but maybe he's just completely dominated quality competition?

I don't follow boxing, so I don't really know. Is it publicity... or is Tyson actually still very good?

Tyson is not that bad compared to the rest of the the fighters in his division but he is nowhere near as good as he used to be. The heavyweight division is a joke right now there are not very many if any worthy challengers to Lewis's crown. If Rahman can get a shot then Tyson definetely deserves one to.

It's all about the dinero. Tyson hasn't beaten anyone to deserve the title shot. But, he's probably the most recognizable name in boxing. Plus, he's outrageous, and there's that what-will-he-do-next curiosity about him that will bring in viewers by the millions.

Tyson's a meal ticket for boxing right now. My guess is he gets disqualified sometime in the fight, probably early, probably for eating Lewis's children. And then they have a rematch (or two) for more guaranteed big dollars. Heavyweight boxing is worse than pro wrestling, IMO, because at least in wrestling they don't try to disguise the event as a legitimate sport.

I usually post at boxingsites and love boxing just a little bit more than basketball so maybe I can help.

Tyson hasn't beaten or even fought anyone noteworthy since his second fight with Holyfield. (The bite fight) He is getting his shot at Lewis for several reasons:

    1. Like some have said, Tyson brings in the money.
    2. Both fighters are getting close to retirement. I would say that thier is a 50/50 chance that the winner will retire after the fight as a crowning achievment.
    3. Tyson is still has incredible skills. He still has the fastest hands in the Heavywieght division(except Chris Byrd), has the hardest punch in the HW division, and has one of the best "chins" in the division. For those of you who don't follow boxing, a good "chin" means you can take a punch.
    4. Another reason this fight is being made is Tyson is a mandatory challenger. That means Lewis has to fight Tyson in order to keep his belt. I'm not sure how concrete that is anymore since Tyson is the one who has had difficulties getting a license.

    Who will win:

Once agian Mike Tyson will be the Heavywieght Champion of the World.
    Here are the reasons.

    1. Earlier in his career, Lewis got knocked out by one punch by Oliver McCall. Last year it happened to him again with Rahman. Lewis has been wobbled countless times and is generaly known throughout the boxing community that he has a bad chin made of china. That is not a good attribute to have when facing Mike Tyson.
2.Tyson is very fierce. Lennox has never and will never face a fighter that will attack him like Tyson will. You cannot prepare for a fighter like Tyson.
    3. Tyson's granite chin. For Lewis to win, he would have to stay outside and keep Tyson at bay. In order to do this, he would have to make Mike respect his power. Tyson has only been knocked out with an accumalation of punches throughout a fight, never from one punch. To accumalate punches on Mike, you have to take chances and be willing to take punches too and that brings us back to Lewis's chin.
    4. Many of Tyson's opponents lose before they get into the ring. They get so terrified they seem to just wait for Tyson to knock them out. Lewis says he isn't scared. Here is is a little known fact, when Tyson and Lewis where younger, maybe still amatuers, they sparred and Tyson knocked Lennox out of the ring. I'm sure Tyson and Lennox haven't forgotten about that.

Ok, this is getting too long. Now you can see why I don't have much time to post on this forum.:D If any of you have any questions, I will be happy to answer them the best I can.

Mr. oily, don't forget to watch Barrera v Morales 2. Their first fight won fight of the year and to tell you the truth, I think it is the best fight I've ever seen and I've seen alot. Plus they hate each other, that always makes things interesting.:)

    MoonDogg,

So how does it feel to have the world revolve around you?

And since this is the 2nd response to my comment. I was talking about these corporations who otherwise would've jumped at the chance to sponser a fight of this caliber.

I should've remembered that some ppl think no else exists besides themselves.

Pennywize: on Tyson's chin -- I'm not convinced he's got a good one at all. I think it's more a matter of it being hard (in the past) to get a clean shot off at him. Tyson is like a bully in that once you connect, he seems to get scared and panic. If you break that facade of toughness, that's half the battle right there. Whether or not Lewis is scared will be the overwhelming key to the fight.

Tyson can't beat Lewis if he can't hit him. If Lewis fights Tyson like he did Holyfield -- which is basically not allowing there to be a fight, by continually pushing him away, I see Tyson getting frustrated and going nuts again. I think we can agree that Lennox's one-punch defeats were results of him taking the opponent lightly and being caught off guard (he convincingly won the rematch in every case I believe) -- this will be the biggest fight of his life. I don't see him being caught off-guard here.

What kind of shape is Tyson in? Is he even physically ready for this kind of fight?
