Who would you rather have to backup Yao?

Tyson Chandler (7'1" 235): Give up assets to receive in a trade. Good rim protector. Expiring contract. Coming off a couple injury plagued seasons. Averaged 12/12 on 62% shooting with 1.1blk pg in 07-08 before the injuries(w/ CP3).

    Brad Miller (7'0" 261):
34 years old. More of a shooter. Can be signed outright in FA. Played with RA before. Had a down year last year but posts career numbers of 11.7/7.5 on 48.2% shooting with an 80% ft.

I would choose Chandler, but that's only if we can get him with the right deal and if he is completely healthy. I feel like we need more of a defensive oriented center to come in for Yao. If Chandler falls through I still think Miller would be a wise choice as well.

Chandler is making 12 million/year. I doubt he resigns with the rockets. No way he should be payed 12 million to be a backup.

I'd choose Chandler because of his rim defense, but reality is that you can't just choose. I'm sure people will be angry with Morey if we get Miller instead of Chandler, whining about how Chandler is a better choice even though there wasn't any sort of deal to get him.

12 mil, a backup center? will he make this team dramatically better? he is not free agent so rox has to give up sth.

    i would choose miller.

The reason MJ declined the trade was because he didn't want to ship out Chandler. What makes him available now? If anything MJ will probably up the asking price.

David Andersen seems redundant if we add Brad Miller.

Calderon's contract was more the issue then wanting to keep Chandler, IMO. Plus the fact Jose plays NO defense and Charlotte is defensive minded squad. It will cost us more then Jeffries now but still something to consider before signing off on Miller.

Chandler? Defense? Didn't Dwight Howard killed him in the playoff?

Miller only because we'd have to give up nothing to get him. I think Chandler is the better player, and I'll leave the getting him part up to Morey.

Chandler will make us an instant contender in the West, probably 2nd after the Lakers. Miller will do nothing for us.

Miller because he's affordable. Until we know how Yao is going to come back, there's no need to rush out and get an expensive backup. If Yao can't come back strong, then I would much rather go out and find a player better than Chandler or Miller.
