Ok, I know this has been discussed many times already, but Griffin really sucks, and I wish we hadn't made the draft day trade with the nets. I'd much rather have Richard Jefferson right now... he's way more consistent. Griffin has a break out game once in what?...every ten to fifteen games? He can't shoot worth crap! I've seen streetballers with much greater accuracy. Look at it this way, Boki played four minutes compared to Eddie's seventeen, had more points, same assists, and no turn-overs. The only thing that he didn't have that compared was the rebounds. Boki's production was better and he took only about a fourth of the time doing it. Rudy, give other people a chance and lose Griff and Kenny on the back of the bench for a while. It's getting ridiculous. Trade one or both of them for something (picks or someone to work over the boards).
IMO when Eddie was starting, the team was running better. I mean, he's no worse an outside shooter than Kenny . . . He's a better defender and almost as good of a rebounder. When he takes the ball down low, he can get some good baskets, but like KT and Mo, he's taking too many outside shots and not positioning down low often enough. He's inconsistent, but he's the future of this team at PF, and if I have to live or die with any one of the PFs, it'd be Eddie . . .
We've been told he's the future, but is he really moving that direction? He sits on the outside and jacks threes. At least KT gets in there and mixes it up. He's the one yanking down the boards and doing the banging. If only he had Eddie's height. Griff doesn't look much bigger than he did last year, and if he doesn't put on more weight and get more aggressive, then I don't see him doing much better.
I agree with Vengeance. Eddie Griffin has a lot of upside to him, he just needs to get inside position and play more inside instead of outside. He'll eventually learn.
I understand everyone is in bad mood after a bad game like that. But please give Griffin a break. He's only 20 years old. He's also our future in PF. This kid needs our support, not bashing.
Oh I'll support him... on the back of the bench while he matures a little. There are other older more mature players that need to be playing while this kid gets some age and experience behind him. He shouldn't be starting over MoT for PF.
anyone remember how Jermiane ONeal, Al Harrington and Jonothan Bender played in their second years in the league..... just wondering
They were all considered BUST. Then around year 3 and 4 they started reaching and exceding there expectations
Yeah, I remember how they played...as second or third options off the bench. I know I'm really hammering on this, but Griff is too young and unproductive to be starting. I've been on the bandwagon for him, and maybe my "trade him" advice is just because I'm pissed after the game, but he needs to come off as the second or third off the bench for a few years. Let him develop and then dominate. Jermaine O'neal is a perfect example of that.
Dr. Robert, I started posting to this BBS in '98, then didn't post for a couple of years, and now I've gotten back on with a new handle... besides, why does the amount of my posts make any difference?
[edit] nevermind...I promised myself not to participate in any thread with a "you suck" in the title. I'm embarrassed.
Look at Stromile Swift in Memphis. He is starting to turn into a good player. He has been in the league for three years and has improved every year. He hasn't hit the top yet and it will take him a while to get there, but when he does, he will be a good player and solid. Eddie is the same way. Most players can not come into the league and have the impact Steve and Mobes have had. Tis is why we call 'em "special". Shaq is the most dominant player in recent history, but he didn't really start taking charge until he was 26-28 years old. Kandi is just now developing into a good player, and teams want a Kandi over a Jefferson. People need to chill the hell out on the players born in the 80's. They are going to make mistakes, they are going miss shots, they are going to have off nights. Eddie is going to be a very valuable player in his prime, but that is still a ways off. We have an awsome young team. They just have not learned how to get in done, night in and night out. When we play as a team and are on, we can beat anyone in the league. When the team has aged a couple more seasons, those winning nights will come more and more often.
It appears that Eddie has just lost all his confidence. At the beginning of the season he was taking it down low on post ups and not just jacking 3's. Also Webber showed that Eddie isn't strong enough to guard power forwards down low. Thankfully the season is still relatively young there still time for Eddie to turn around his season.
Very Nice point Smeg! The only thing he needs is PT and he isn't getting it. His biggest issue is that he thinks that he can shoot a 3 at the top of the key as easy as he can a lay up. We need him in for D and to help get his confidence up. He still needs to put on some more lbs.
