For folks who are freaking out over tonight, please note the following:

    1. Nobody made a trade involving a top 10 pick or an important player on draft night

It takes two teams to make a deal and teams simply were not in a dealing mood tonight. The Rockets were not the only team that didn't get a big trade done tonight-- in fact, for all the trade chatter out there (much of it did not involve the Rockets), nobody got a big trade done tonight.

It's not like the Rockets tried to nickle and dime their trade partner and got themselves outbid by a more aggressive team.

    2. There is no game on the schedule tomorrow night, or, in fact, for the next several months.

You are, in fact, allowed to change your roster between draft night and opening night (and even after opening night, if you can believe it). They will have months to sort out any kind of roster glut and acquire, say, a 7 footer to play center. Remember, the Ron Artest for Donte Greene + a pick trade didn't get done until August 14 of that year.

    With you all the way.

The people on this board are so reactionary it's embarrassing.

No Carl, clearly our best option is to rage, rage, rage, and create hundreds of threads about what Morey DIDNT do.

Although I guess we could all sit around and be patient and stick to discussing the potential of our current roster. Alright, lets do it.

Yeah, I agree. It's just not only about draft day, but we still have plenty of time until opening day to tweak roster and sign free agency and/or trade. I love Jeremy Lamb a lot. Royce White and Terrence Jones are good addition in my opinion. Right now I feel Rockets will become a contender with those additions. Plus don't forget D. Motienjunas.

Stop being logical and a voice of reason, you're upsetting the balance.

    I agree exactly.
This team will see a lot of changes before the season starts.

Fair enough Carl, but lets say the summer league starts and this log jam still isn't clear; then is it reasonable to be upset? When is the appropriate time to panic if this isn't cleaned up? start of regular season?

Yep. You were lucky. He was about to ruin your franchise over Dwight. Then he also would have traded up in the draft to select Drummond and another power foward after that. Getting rid of Lowry in the process and a extra pick. Instead he lucked into Lamb by his sheer inability to pull off big moves that ultimately saved his butt this time. Now he has Lowry, Lamb, White, and his glut of forwards because he had no idea what to do with two extra picks after the top half teams made his decision for him on picking Lamb. it works out because now he has so many assets to do his other trades too by sheer luck and some skill he has doing moneyball combined. His inability for once paid off today. We would have hated Howard when he left us.

That ludicrous Toronto pick really got to me; I honestly can't believe they were too afraid to trade down 4 spots for Ross in exchange for an extra pick from the Rockets and allow them to leapfrog Detroit to get Andre Drummond. Unless they had info that Portland was going to snap up the local kid at 11, the Rockets really got punished by Toronto having 0 balls at all.

As soon as Waiters went off the board at 4, it was obvious that Toronto was going to be stuck; I really though the Rockets had Drummond in the bag at that point.

At some point the luck for the Rockets is going to have to turn right?

Morey failed to bring home a five, and every GM in the league sees that hole in our roster. You don't think they're going to dig a bit deeper because of it?

And it's not just the draft, but the season leading up to it. To lose out on Meyers because we won six more games than Portland, and Portland helped us win games by trading us Camby, and we helped Portland lose games by accepting him!

Of course all he had to do was draft Zeller to fix his hole at center. But? He didnt.
