Last Spring, the Rockets are cruising towards the playoffs, and RT is diagnosed with pre cancer. The Rockets immediately begin to spiral, and fail to make the post season.

This Spring, the Rockets are cruising towards the playoffs, and Calvin Murphy is accused of molesting his own daughters. The Rockets immediately begin to spiral, possibly falling out of the top eight.

    Is this a coincidence?

The Rockets obviously don't handle pressure, adversity, or any other sort of controversy very well, and now we're seeing deja vu all over again.

I was thinking the same thing, wonder if CM had any effect on the players.

We have been out of the playoffs for 4 years. It's going to be hard getting back in; but, we will do it. This has nothing to do with Murphy!

the difference between last year and this one is our buffer zone protecting us against missing the post season.

last year we were tied or with in a game of the suns going sown the home stretch. in '04, we had a 5 game cushion. now its down to about 2, but i belive if we only win 2 more games we should be fine.

Dont forget the third collapse (4 years ago). I think we won like 47 games that year, and missed the playoffs with collapes down the stretch.

It reminds me of this season with Golden State & the Clippers. We had a similiar stretch 4 years ago, except both of those teams were really bad that there. And like tonight, we fell to the pressure and missed the playoffs.

    Yep,

And I was as wrong as can be.....it was not Rudy, it was the mix of players.

JVG has not gotten them to play any better or harder than they played for Rudy.

In fact, JVG has killed the confidence of Francis....I think Rudy would have mixed them in better.

I still would have prefered Dunleavy over JVG...but JVG is clearly showing us that it was not the coach...but the mix of players....

Actually, we need two more wins and a Portland loss, or one win and 2 Portland losses, but I think the Rockets are fine. Portland still has to play the Spurs twice, go down to Denver, and host the Lakers. And that's after playing at home against Golden State Wednesday. I post this in the other thread, as long as the Rockets beat the Clippers and Nuggets they'll be fine. If they beat those two teams then the Blazers would have to go perfect against their schedule to beat out the Rockets, and even then the Rockets would have to lose their last 3 games for that to happen.

would you call the eddie griffin thing a tragedy?

i thought the players dealt with that 'advesity' pretty well.

This team was playing bad long before Calvin's problem's. Bottomline, unlike the last few collapses the Rockets are in complete control of their destiny. Lets hope they seal the deal finally.

We will close the season with a 10 game losing streak..probably miss the playoffs.

So, going by your theory, a trade would fix this mess?

You have to be joking right? Rudy T put this crappy team together. In fact what good did Rudy T do for this franchise? He didn't even draft Dream. Think of all the crap that has happened under Rudy T lately. Traded for a bonehead in Francis. He came into the league as a whiner, and still is a whiner at like 27. Traded 3 1st round picks for another bonehead, only Eddie was worst. He smokied pot, was a drunk, and tryed to kill is girl fiend. Sign Mo Talylor and Cato to huge contracts. Sign Moochie to a big contract. Let Francis and MObley just drippple all over court even after lost, after lost. Please, you don't want Rudy T back. JVG is going to change this team for the better this offseason.

    Can he find enough ex-Knicks?:D

Seriously, though, you are right. Changes are needed to make the team .... a team. Also, JVG himself must look in the mirror and learn some Rudy-type people skills.

it sure looks like our "Look at Our Rivals' Schedules Theory" sure went into the toilet. A good example is how the Lakers rolled over for the Blazers last night. All we need to do is suck it up and beat the Clips, Denver and Utah. I no longer care about other teams' schedules.

I agree. I have never seen SF miss so many layups
or . . he use to NOT SHOT THEM . . HE USE TO DUNK!!!
but everyone wants to take out the 'fancy'
Yao could use a DUNK OR TWO AS WELL

What bothers me most about JVG is his rotations
Why is Weatherspoon ahead of PAdget? Padge has been balling
and has been balling .. but does come in into the deep fourth
and ONLY BECAUSE OF FOUL TROUBLE
    then
Yao fouls out .. who do we put in . . . MO TAYLOR
WE NEEDED DEFENSE AND CATO SAT AT THE END?????

    come one DEFENSIVE COACH!!

Also . . . during halftime Good coachs motivate their teams into
a frenzy and they come out flying over the court

Seems like our team gets a brow beating and comes out looking
    like fricking whipped dogs!

    Rocket River
JVG needs some changes his d*mn self!

RM, why do you ignore the nuggets and jazz in your analysis (you did it in another thread)? on top of portland, we have to beat either denver or utah against whom we have a magic number of 4. the jazz game could lower the magic# by 3 so that is probably the most important game left on the schedule.

I've actually run out of ways to describe how much the Rockets suck...Maybe they'll finally start winning knowing that I've been decimated like this...

Don't worry. There will be a fresh track next year, and maybe you'll still have some new cars to go with your engine and caboose. Who knows? JVG could bring back Artis Gilmore to coach Yao. There is always room to hope.;)
