    1. Combined with the switching D, "lulls" / "forces" the opponent to also go more iso. Rockets have much more practice going iso so they have a relative advantage here.

    2. Uses more shot clock, reduces the number of possessions, which increases the variance. The best chance to beat a significantly more talented team is to increase the variance. You want a Bo3, not a Bo7. You wan't 80 possessions a game, not 120.

#2 I think is key, and the front office clearly understands that, but almost never gets mentioned in the media.

To add to #1, it really takes them out of their rhythm

That's synergy by definition. It takes the WHOLE organization to make the organization succeed.

    Deming would be proud.

In past years, greater variance was better because they were way more talented then us. Not sure if that is true this yr. So not sure you want greater variance.

The narrative that one offense can "Lull"/"Force" the best offense ever into a 180 change of style is not what is happening. Our defense is putting them into ISO. Don't downplay what our switching defense is doing just to prop up a narrative. That's what the media does.

    Aside from that, I agree.

Would add: ball-control offenses reduce turnovers and *should* support better transition defense -- spot up shooters can release more consistently from spaced-out locations. These are JVG's comments, btw, so per your Title, not really in the rarely mentioned category.

The key to winning this series is a simple one - Do Not Give GSW transition opportunities. It is really that simple.

That's how one minute they are tied and the next they are up a dozen , they do it in transition .... Limit that while playing solid defense and you can beat them.

GSW Can Not Win An Ugly Game.

Should add...people embracing this idea our offense is Lulling the Worriers into changing their style, should note that that is bad for us. It means they can just switch it back on.

Worriers know better. They are worried because they now it is our defense doing this to them. The can't get open on the pin-downs and backscreens that they so heavily rely upon. And Durant can't pass. Cupcake is getting more and more worried about double teams and isn't trusting that a cutter is available.

With CP3 out for Game 6, I think you may see the Rockets move away from iso and back to last year's offense. Morey preached variance last year to advocate pushing the pace and shooting a ****-ton of threes. Without CP3, we don't have the talent that GS has, but we damn sure have enough shooters than can go off in one game.
