Guys, I saw two very confused guards tonight on the court, a don't-know-how to-pass-at-all CAT, and a don't-know-how-to-score Franchise. With JVG's new system and the good playing of Yao and MoT, the two guards of ours are really getting confused because they are now told, demostrated, and forced to give up the ball more than ever before in their years in Houston! They are simply confused and feel uneasy, don't know what to do, and if they act, mostly against their first instinct. That's why they've been in a slump recently. BTW, please don't let me see CAT's pass to Yao any more!!! It's so disgusting! It's unbearable to watch because you cannot believe a professional player cannot make that a pass! CAT and Franchise are suffering big time from JVG's system. The system has exposed everything bad about them all!
People think those people who have big forehead are smart, JVG has a big forehead, Yao has a big forehead, Steve Francis has it too. Why it looks like Steve use his feet to think but not his head?
I thought steve was playing pretty well until he didn't get any foul call going to the baseket. Cat was playing okay tonight too. The tempo was just way too fast. The main problem was the rox inability to slow the game down as a team.
Steve needs to break out of this shooting slump. He passed the ball very well last night, now he just needs to combine that passing with the Steve Francis that can shoot.
I saw a team especially the backcourt of SF & CM trying to make Sports Center highlights and impress the celebs court side instead of focusing on the game. Why was Cat taking & bricking 3's from the George R. Brown Convention Center. He reminded me of Mad Max.
Steve looked as confused and out of rhythm as I have ever seen... it seemed everytime he isolated, he ended up turning over the ball... he got torched by Bibby and it showed when he essentially tackled Bibby on a jumpshot. Cuttino, what can you say... he takes those shots where one says "OH DON"T DO THAT!" but he hits about half of them... it seems as if he is trying to play with some semblance of plan but he does his best when he is freewheeling... Stuart
I cannot understand why SF allowed so many fastbreaks last night. When our shots didn't fall, Kings had fastbreaks, and when our shots fell, Kings had fastbreaks too. How hard is it to keep an eye on your guy? Use your brain, SF!
I completely agree, and I posted in DaDakota's thread that I actually felt sorry for Francis last night, he is soooooo out of his natural role as an iso player. The zone defense and JVG's system are killing his game. I don't believe that this is a slump that he will get through; he will not and can not become something that he is not. Very painful to watch, and I say call an end to the experiment before Francis is destroyed as a person. Either find another role for him or trade him. Enough is enough.
It seemed like Steve had so little confidence in his shot that he always crashed the offensive glass, letting Bobby Jackson cherry pick on the other end.
It appears to me that Francis is not sure when to pentrate, pass or shoot. He is hesitating big time and by the time he decides to drive or pass or shoot, the opponent's defense has already determined what he is going to do also. Obviously he is not playing on instinct right now and it's very unnatural to him. The transition is much harder for Francis and it's beginning to take a toll on his confidence that's for sure. I hope he gets out of his funk but right now it's not looking too good .
Let's leave Franchise alone for a while. The guy is really suffering big time, mentally. He needs to figure out something soon. Otherwise, he will be figured out! CAT is some other guy I want to talk about for a moment. Notice the first post entry passes that were designed for him and Yao? It was painful to see those two passes. And I saw similar passes before. Bill Walton was trying to say something when he jacked up a 3, and fortunately he maded it! But you can tell the guy is different. He is forced now to change to accomodate his game to Yao and the team. And the change is painful because he and Franchise are used to being the core of this team for so long and to being able to do whatever they want for so long. Now they are confined, in a team framework. What makes things worse, they are forced to learn to yield! That is really painful! Some of fans cannot stand a little negative thoughts about Franchise and CAT. Now that they are completely exposed, and we hope they can understand why we care to point out some bad sides of FRANCHISE and CAT. The reason is simple, we want the team to win and win in a convincing way. Without the help of those two positions(not necessarily those two, imagine having Bibby or Bobby or Kidd or Baron or even the gurads of Utah with us this year!), we are going nowhere!
Steve an AllStar? I really hope he gets his act together but Mobley and him are destroying the team along with Cato. Cato needs to come off the bench and spell Yao. MoT should be starting and somebody else should spell MoT. I don't who would be that PF. I am just frustrated with the guard play.
First of all there was so many fastbreaks is because all the Rockets turnovers, Steve's,Yao's, Mark's ,Cat's the list goes on ,and on.
this is not the only game we had so many TO's. When you paly Kings, you know they rush down the court so you keep an eye on your guy all the time. After the last 3-pointer JJ made, we were within 2. SF lost his man Jackson and had to committ flagrant foul to stop him. Com'n, you make a bucket and you still got beat on fastbreak, that's not right. That happen not only once, I may add.
He's double clutching on everything. Expecting to get a foul call. Hoping that it will free his shot. On his open shots he's just clanking period. But I think he will get it back. He's just in a slump. Jim Jacks and Peja looked like clones out there. Both of them kep making the same move to free up there jump shot last night. Worked like a motha too. bibby is just sick.
I agree, he is so lost out there. Last year he came down the court thinking shoot first. Now he's always thinking pass, and the only shots he manages to get off are bad shots.
while steve is struggling to score, his passing is definitely improving. the thing is, at some point it will click with him, when to shoot and when to pass, his hesitation shooting the ball or going to the hole will slowly fade and we will have an incredible new steve francis, one who can get to the hole and either finish or pass, not just throw up a crazy shot that has no chance of going in. Also, steve's jump shot is off b/c he is playing so uncomfortably, so hesistantly, and when he begins feeling more secure in his play making ability and he resumes his offensive aggression he will be fine, and he will be twice the player he has ever been(but he'll always avg 3-4 to's a game, always, its just who he is).
