On Thursday, my band orange is in is playing with Blendt at the Rhythm Room. While orange is in has me, Blendt features the BBS' own Toast, so it will be like a big BBS jam session. :D

There is an opener at 9pm, but orange is in starts probably around 10:30 and Blendt after us. Here are those details:

    Thurday, August 19 - 9:30pm
    The Rhythm Room
Washington Avenue (between Taylor and Houston)

    ----

Now, as if that wasn't enough, my OTHER band Slapshifter is playing at Rudyard's on Saturday. I'll be the only BBS'er represented on stage, but it should be a fun show as we are releasing our EP/CD "demo-lition" that night. Please come out, support live music and let me know you are in da haus. Slapshifter plays SECOND in the order so we'll start around 11:30 most likely.

    Saturday, August 21 - 10pm
    Rudyard's
    2010 Waugh Drive
w/Stacey Steger & the Satellites and the James Reece Project.

    ---

    See you guys there!

    P.S. Only a $5 cover on Thurs.

There's some dude opening. I forget his name. I almost hate to mention he'll be opening for Sister Hazel at the Meridian in early September. But I guess that means either he has SOME skills, or he has some family @ Clear Channel ;)

Either way, you should come out for the BBS collection of booty-shakin' music.

Jeff, I don't suppose you saw any of the posters around town (or at the RR)? The featured chick is wearing a special bikini just for you guys.

I haven't, but I'll keep an eye out. Rather than do flyers for this one - since it is a Thursday - we did the phone and email thang. Plus, the BBS folks need to support us, I think. :D

Well, it's gonna take Justin a little time to learn the songs, but since he's Eggy's (drummer) roommate & all, I think it'll work out like gangbusters.

Eggy & Justin have actually been playing together for years, so they're already pretty tight. Plus, we're thinking at some point in the not-so-distant future, you might see them line up w/ 2 drumsets & 1 percussion set up, with both of them switching it up and smackin' your face with killer beats.

Washington's planning on coming to town for the Green Bay vs. Texans game, so we're gonna try to lineup a show then and have what we've called the "trifecta" in a couple of practices when all 3 have played.

    Blizzidyupdabump.

I will definitely be there tonight, wearing my newly delivered "Mosquito/Houston: It's Worth It" t-shirt. Feel free to introduce yourself if I have not met you at a previous BBS gathering, and I apologize in advance for my drunken behavior this evening.

Apparently, Drewdog's a wimp who can't stay up past 7:30, so it may just be me and hopefully the next backup center for the Houston Rockets. :)

Stuff your sorries in a sack, mister. The band may or may not be throwing down jaeger shots before we jump on stage. God I hope we don't. It seems everytime we hit the jaeger, we suddenly feel the need to play louder and faster. And louder.

P.S. We're not playing any Skynard.

Awww, crap! I was really looking forward to yelling FREE BIRD from the back of the Rhythm Room. Really helps pick up the chicks, ya know!

    :D

Some drunk assclown did this at one of my blues band's gigs recently. Our harmonica player said from the stage "I got your freebird right here pal" and flipped him off. He then said "we don't play any of that monkeyass trailer park crap in this band"....much to our bass players delight (he's a black dude).

The drunk kinda slunk down in his chair for the rest of the night.

    I love that line!

We won't be doing any Skynard either. Barry Manilow, yes. Skynard, no. :D
