hey gang, wondering if anyone has experience with TV tuner cards. i'm fairly noob with them.

i've got an AVerMedia AVerTV Hybrid VolarMAX tuner. i'm trying to hook up my PC to cable to make my own PVR/media center.

currently, by running a splitter directly out of the wall into my tv and my pc separately, i'm able to get analog channels and QAM unencrypted HD channels on the pc, but here's my question:

i also pay for Comcast's HD package that I get through the set-top box. how can i get those "encrypted" HD channels that i get on my TV to show up on my PC too? or is this "illegal..."?

    thanks much.

From what I understand, you need to pay for another port (wrong word?) way or something like that. And you might have to use a box, and from there use the out put coaxial.
