I am interested in what exactly this "event" is. I'll give this show a shot. It will premiere September 20th. Will anyone else be tuning in?
Think I'll probably check it out but not holding terribly high hopes after the load of Lost wanna be we've had over the last couple of years.
Agreed. "Flash Forward" held promise, but moved at a snails pace with poor character development. "Persons Unknown" seemed like a cool concept, but was completely cheesy in it's execution. "The Event" might be good, but the odds are against it. Couple that with the fact that it's on NBC, which has shown a propensity for killing decent shows ("Heroes" anyone?), and I don't hold much hope for the show.
I wonder will it be a FLASH FORWARD Rocket River Flash Forward needs to at least make a book to explain itself or something
Flash Forward was based on this book: http://www.amazon.com/Flashforward-Robert-J-Sawyer/dp/0812580346
I'll probably check it out despite what's probably the laziest name ever. If it's clear they're trying to milk some mystery instead of character development or decent dialogue I'll drop it. You can't just manufacture a new lost.
Pilot was on tonight. It had little in the realm of character development but I found it interesting. Obviously it ended on a lame "I haven't told you everything" line but oh well. I will keep watching next week.
This episode only got interesting the last 25 minutes. I was going in with the intention of a sci-fi show and 3/4 was Soap Opera. Couple thoughts: Spoiler -The end had a Stephen King's The Langoliers vibe. -How many of these ancillary characters will we be seeing in the future? The girl Sean saved is of course a part of something. I hope the guy at the front desk and the security guard are also in on it. -When the men in black ambush Leila's parents they shoot twice, once in the direction of her mom and once at her dad, so I get the impression that they kill both of them. Who is the guy flying the plane? -I have no Idea why the people behind The Event/Trying to stop more Events(?) would want to kidnap a couple people just to get a pilot to assassinate the president with a plane. Especially when they have the capability to wipe out the existence of a cruise ship passenger. You would think they would have a sleeper pilot on the pay role... If you ask me it's a Rube Goldberg way about doing things. This Leila chick better be pretty damn I'll tune in next week because everything is just too random right now.
It did enough to keep me interested for at least another week. I'll give it that. It looks to have some promise.
Not impressed but will watch next week. I thought it was corny because they went over-the-top trying to be mysterious. If the purpose of the premiere was to be a tease to get people to watch the 2nd episode, mission accomplished. That will get old fast.
The first half felt way too much like a Lost ripoff. 2nd half got a bit more interesting. I have a theory on what the whole thing is and if its what I think I would be a bit let down.
Yea...definitely felt like a "Lost" rip-off with the jumping around to the past to fill in questions about what happened in the past so we can understand how we got to the current events. I think this is NBC's version of "Lost" and it's going to be a poor-man's "Lost" in the end. I kind of miss just starting from a beginning point and proceeding forward-only. I guess the story isn't interesting enough to do it that way. So, every time now we get to a point in the story where something needs to be explained...we will stop at that moment and produce a flashback to the previous time. Then, we will flash back to the current moment in time and move the story along again...until we have to flash back again to fill that gap in knowledge in. Sigh. The whole plane thing at the end implies there is supernatural intelligence at play here with advanced technology. I kind of felt like I was watching "Deep Impact" for a little bit. All I could think is Extinction Level Event the whole time and a cover-up to go with it. That's okay I guess. When I was watching the beginning of "Hawaii 5-0", it felt like I was watching "Patriot Games" with a Harrison Ford stand-in.
I think the event is going to be .... Spoiler ...some sort of alien mess, hence the locked up prisoners who nobody know they can trust and the whole thing about past presidents never helping them. It looked like the plane when into some sort of a wormhole, at least that's what I thought as soon as I saw it
I liked it before they pulled a page out of Lost? Seriously wormholes? That could not have ended even lamer.
