The TV stand I used when I was living at home was always intended to be temporary and on top of that it didn't belong to me, so I left it behind and now my TV is sitting on the floor at my new apartment. This obviously unacceptable.

    Here's what I'm looking for...

    - Mostly black in color with metal/glass pieces. Brown/wood will not go with any of my furniture.
    - Able to support a 108 lbs., 42" plasma TV
    - As open as possible to allow proper ventilation to game consoles and other components
    - Preferably 21" or more in height
    - Under $200

I've seen stands in stores that fit those descriptions, but I'm still skeptical about their build quality. Obviously if it collapses my TV and everything below it could be ruined. I'm hoping for some first-hand reviews here.

    Any help is appreciated.

You might check over at Boltz to see if there is anything you like.

    Edit: Oh...under $200. Forget it.

I just bought an awesome black, 3 level TV stand from Best Buy 2 weeks ago and I put it together myself in the span of 2 hours.

It's made to fit up to 62" TVs, and fits my 50" DLP, with home theater, satellite box, PS3, and gamecube just fine.

    Here's a link:
    the link

    I HIGHLY recommend it.

I bought one from Tweeter last spring that sounds almost exactly like what you're looking for. I'll have to check the invoice when I get home for the model #. The only problem is I'm pretty sure it cost me more than 200 bucks.

hmm, we just bought a 56" Samsung LCD and it is coming in next Friday but we don't have a stand yet either. the black BB one looks okay but i read the one review about it not having doors and that's not great for babies/kids. if we'll be starting that soon, maybe we should get doors? or will the babies be touching everything anyways?

we'll be shopping this w/e for a stand though.

    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8355488&type=product&id=1177112902253

This would almost work but doesn't support quite enough weight. If I can get that close to what I'm looking for after just 2 minutes on Best Buy's website, I'm sure somebody has found something even better.

And yes, I've spent more time than that searching for something, but I'm not the best at finding deals.

I'd go look at some of the stuff they have at World Market. They have some really great looking stuff that is better quality and way cheaper than Best Buy. We've spent a ton of money there lately because we keep finding stuff so cheap. Trust me, we do not have cheap tastes.

Hmm...looks like I'll be taking peek at this one in-store on my way home tonight. Hopefully the top isn't quite as gray as it looks in the pictures, but even still I might get it. I know it says it holds up to 40" flat screens and mine is a 42", but I assume that's only a recommendation. It holds about 30lbs. more than I need.

I think that's fine. do the measurements to see the width. some people don't like the TV being wider than the stand. its just their taste.

I have a Zline. That crap was heavy.

DAMN! That thing is heavy! Are plasmas that much heavier than LCD's?! My LCD feels like it's around 45-50 lbs. (42")

The one above is my personal favorite. It's $157.00 Only 1 left, though.

These were all found at overstock.com. They are all for 42" in. TV's and can hold 250 lbs.

Yup. I have a projection and experience with LCDs. Blew my mind when I found out how heavy my plasma was. I can't lift it safely by myself. I like what UTweezer proposed but Ikea's wood swells up over stress in my experience. The 1st one fatty posted is awesome too, is that Bello?

Ive been looking for something with open unhidden spaces for 3-4 boxes (PS3, cable, surround etc) AND a drawer or 2 or something that allows my games/movies to be hidden.
