Inspired by Lynus in the other Hangout thread...

What TV shows do you hate?

For me, it has to be Will and Grace... I'm sorry, I know a lot of people love this show. I, for one, cannot stand it. Hearing the show's tune makes me sick, I instantly change the channel. I used to like Grace back when she was in Ned & Stacey (didn't like the show all that much, though)... now, I can't stand her. The fact that so many jokes seem to be about homosexuality is another thing that I can't stand. It's cool to have some gay characters, but does everything need to be in reference to their sexuality?! It gets annoying. I'm not sure they do this now, but definitely during the first season.

    Some others:

The Nanny- ARGH. Same jokes over and over... the one where she'd say one thing but at the same time doing the opposite... e.g. "I really hate people who can't keep calm around celebrities" *celeb enters* "Oh my God! It's X celeb!" Goes insane. This with any other possible situation known to man.

Frasier- I don't understand how this show can be regarded as funny... well, I take it back... some jokes are quite cool, it's just Frasier I cannot stand.

I'm about to get bashed like a Mofro, but...

I don't really hate it, but I cant watch a whole show without changing the channel. The show is Seinfield.

Unhappily Ever After - the show's basis of existence revolved around Nikki Cox being the biggest tease in television history. it's like dangling a porkchop in front of a salivating stanley roberts.

They did a special "pop up" episode of W&G last night and they kept track of gay jokes during the episode. I think they finished with 9.

It's funny you think it's too gay cuz from my perspective the show isn't gay enough. At least in a non-sterotypical joke type of way. How many relationships have Karen and Grace been in compared to how many Will and Jack have had?

I didn't think much of the first season either so maybe you shouldn't judge it by that alone. Seasons 2 and 3 were funnier and sharper. The episode with Doogie Howser is one of my favorites.

Of course, Two Sandwiches is Thomas Hamilton, not Stanley Roberts.

I was hoping maybe you'd respond to this thread... I don't know, I just got the impression that they were making gay jokes in situations where it really wasn't necessary. Fair enough, the guy is gay... but does a joke need to be made about it constantly?! I guess I could give the show another shot. I have no idea about the relationships etc. seeing that I never started to follow the series. Out of curiousity, do you have a "I know how that feels" kinda connection with some of the jokes they make? I don't know, often enough I don't even find the gay jokes comical.

    Eddie,

That show was what inspired this thread! I cannot understand how that show can be hated!

About Unhappily Ever After... yeah, very bad show. Didn't really become popular enough for me to really dislike it, though. Nikki Cox is quite annoying and not even as hot as she is made out to be. But that could be because of the fact that she's meant to be hot in the series. I remember thinking she was stunning when she came out in "California Dreams"... this was a looooong time ago, I must have been 12 or something. Do any of you guys remember that show?! Kinda a Saved By The Bell wannabe.

I should know this, but what happened to Thomas Hamilton? I can't believe I used to run a Rockets site, I'm so out of the loop these days.

I had a crush on that Latina girl in "California Dreams"

    Shows I hate:
Everything before "Scrubs" that was awarded the coveted timeslot after "Friends" over the years
    "Roseanne"
    "Fear Factor"
    "Bachelor/Bachelorette"
    "SNL"
    "Mad TV"

I liked "Unhappily Ever After." A poor man's "Married With Children." Nikki Cox is gorgeous. I can't believe she dated Bobcat Goldwaith (sp?) I don't know what's come of their relationship, but good god man!

Okay, who is this Bobcat guy? No idea. SNL?! What is Fear Factor. I've never seen it. Don't think they air it here. Roseanne was terrible, although sometimes I would bear watching it out of sheer boredom.

What are you on about? Me no comprende...

If its supposed to say "What are you talking about?", I was talking about football playoffs. Your sig says Nederland 2004, so I am assuming you go there.

Yeah they use a lot of "inside" jokes where you have to be gay to appreciate it. I will agree with you that they use it too often. It's a cheap laugh. I can see how straight people like yourself would find it annoying.

Honestly I think the main reason the show is a ratings hit is because of Debra Messing and Grace's romance storylines. Eric McCormick is just playing Rupert Everett to her Julia Roberts in the minds of most Americans.

My problem with Will & Grace is the lack of openly gay actors. Sean Hayes STILL refuses to come out officially after 6 years and his Jack character is making out more often with Karen than with men. Will's few-and-far between dates have been played by straight actors (Patrick Dempsey, Michael Douglas, Dan Futterman).

Madonna is gonna guest star next month.

According to imdb.com, Nikki Cox was married with Bobcat! They divorced almost a year ago.

Bobcat was the voice of the stuffed animal on "Unhappily Ever After" as well as a comedian.
