I got and interesting phone call today. A comedian buddy of mine has a production deal with a cable network to do a half hour show. They are looking for a comedy-based show but not a sitcom, personality driven but not a gameshow. If you had gotten the call, could you come up with something?

BTW if you are uncomfortable with posting something that could make someone else a gazillionaire, I understand:rolleyes:

Sounds like he wants something like Malcolm in the Middle or the Wonder Years or Bernie Mac.

sheesh. It sounds like they want him to either rip off "Who's Line is it Anyway," (except make it even less like a game show), or join the fray with yet another celeb-ish "reality" show..

That'd be a Rip-off of Kevin Smith's "Roadside Attractions" - the only good thing on Leno :)

How about sketch comedy....kind of like the show Wayne Brady had last year?

If this works...just let me know when and where the auditions for supporting cast are. :)

How about a 'Memento'-Seinfeld like series of comedic happenings where everything goes from present to the past?

    Another Brother,

Being a wanna be comedian I would love to know how this works out. I don't know if you've been on the site in a while, but this sounds interesting. I'll try to come up with something if the offer is still on the table for ya'll.

Maybe their looking for a Reality Comedy series. The problem is, I don't think those two go together.

I would do a show that deals with every day people with extrodinary offers.

Take the game show elements out of the studio and into real life.

For instance, offer the clerk at the local Grocery store, an envelope instead of the $25 that you owe.

Let the audience in on the contents of the envelope etc...sometimes have $1000 in the envelope, other times, have a used ticket to an old concert. Kind of a door number 1, or 2 deal.

Take some of the cool game show elements to the street baby, and have fun with it.

Kind of a candid camera/game show approach.

    Just my .02

Hypothetically, if I had gotten that call, yes, I could come up with something.

I don't know the exact format, but if you could somehow incorporate Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Aniston licking caramel off each others breasts for half an hour, I'd watch it...

I prefer shows where dudes on skateboards rack themselves on guard rails and such. I like seeing punks get hurt (no offense to the punks here).

sounds like the chapelle (sp?) show, tom green, etc.

that was my thinking too. why not do a ripoff of "joe schmo" on spike tv since reality tv is all the rave right now?

have an aspiring comedian be the main character. make it to where the guy/gal thinks that he's getting his "big break" by performing in front of an audience that he doesn't know is fake... the judges are fake too. then he gets all the glitz, glamour, and other crap that goes along with it. then somehow in the end they reveal that he was setup or something.

okay... bad idea, but what reality tv shows aren't?

i would make a show where a bunch of comedians (5-6) stay at my house in seattle and renovate and remodel it. the show of course would pay for everything and i would just sit around and give orders.

that's comedy gold. who wouldnt watch that?
