FX has given the official green light to “Justified: City Primeval,” a sequel to its critically acclaimed drama series “Justified” seven years after the Emmy and Peabody award-winning show wrapped its six-season run. Timothy Olyphant will reprise his iconic role of U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens and executive produce alongside showrunners and writers Dave Andron and Michael Dinner and original creator Graham Yost. While the original show was based on Elmore Leonard’s short story “Fire in the Hole,” the new series is based on the novel “City Primeval: High Noon In Detroit” with Olyphant’s Raylan replacing the novel’s protagonist Lieutenant Raymond Cruz. In the new series set eight years later, Givens is now based in Miami and balancing life as a Marshal and part-time father to a teen girl. A chance encounter on a Florida highway sends him to Detroit where he crosses paths with Clement Mansell, aka The Oklahoma Wildman – a violent sociopath who has already slipped through the fingers of Detroit’s finest once and wants to do so again. Sony Pictures Television and FX Productions are backing the project. Source: Deadline https://www.darkhorizons.com/olypha...zQPGXl4Y5Nh-6do1m9uUiBZoZf8txzjNNIOHQBqLJ_sIc
Freaking yes!!! I hope my brain hasn't become so fried that I won't appreciate the quality character development anymore. I just can't sit still and watch whole episodes of anything anymore, but Justified always had me captivated.
As someone who only discovered Justified last year, this is amazing. I just wonder how it'll compare (i'm assuming his character doesn't return) with no Walton Goggins.
I watched S1 EP1 like 10 years ago and never touched it again. Gave me the honkytonk CSI vibes. Goggins was shooting an RPG or something absurd. This show and the Shield. Supposedly they were supposed to be good. LIES.
Yeah, man. I just cant do like... the glorification of honkytonk vibes. Yellowstone, actually... Same exact thing. S1 E1. Gave up. I get it. You wear cowboy boots. Okay already. Lulz. But serious.
Fantastic news. Never actually watched the last season of Justified for some reason. Does it stay strong? NOT ASKING ZIGGY
It's been years since I've seen it, need to rewatch it one of these days. The final scene is worth the watch, one of the best endings ever. Sam Elliot and Mary Steenburgen were fantastic. Season 2 is my favorite I think, I never knew who Margo Martindale was until then, if she didn't win awards she should have.
Wonderful news. I caught onto this show in season 3. Some of the best characters and dialogue ever, with great serial plots. Rewatched the whole thing last year.
Heck, my significant other might faint. She's had the hots for Oliphant for years, and I love Justified. Can't wait!
Yellowstone is okay. I've love most of Taylor Sheridan's work (Sicario, Wind River, Hell or High Water), but Yellowstone is clearly a notch below those (while using many of the same actors) and that's okay. Justified is on another level though in regards to writing and character development. It's not for everyone, but it sure works for me. It's far far different from cowboy CSI. And so is Yellowstone - that's just more like cowboy Sopranos, but not as good.
Agreed on Sheridan. I couldn't get into Yellowstone either, but the prequel 1883 is getting solid reviews (and it has Sam Elliott) so I'm going to give it a shot. Did you hear that somebody is turning Hell or High Water into a streaming series?
